Guest tamaralynn
The doc has Diablo on 375 mg of Clavamox (2 pills twice a day), 75 mg of Rimadyl (1 pill twice a day) and 50 mg of Tramadol (2 pills twice a day.) I know he needs the Clavamox b/c it's the antibiotic and the Rimadyl is an anti-inflammtory pain management med. I'm hesitant to keep giving him the Tramadol, though, because it's also for pain (like the Rimadyl) and from what I've researched online it's also a pretty potent narcotic. He doesn't sem to be in any pain so should I really be giving him two types of pain meds? Thanks!
Greylover97
When Jake had his tail amputated he had the standard antibiotic and 50 mg of Rimadyl twice a day (as needed). I would check with the vet about the Tramadol. Kira was on that for osteo, which is whole other ballgame. Guest Greyt_dog_lover
I have a prescip for Tramadol for myself (human dose) and as far as pain killers go, its actually on the weak side. It is nothing compaired to the "serious" narcotics. I have been on Percocet, Tylenol w/codine, Vicadin, Tramadol is sooooo much weaker than those. I wouldnt worry too much. Tramadol seems like a very common pain management prescrip for greys, you will see it mentioned a lot on GT.
Guest GreysAndMoreGreys
It does seem like he's on a quite a bit of pain meds. If it was me I would more than likely go with just the antibiotic and the Rimadyl. If you notice that he seems to be in pain with just that, then you can always start up on the Tramadol. Also I second what Greyt dog lover says. Tramadol doesn't seem to be a MAJOR narcotic compared to Percocet and thing of the likes.

I've given him just the antibiotic and Rimadyl so far today and he seems fine so I'll just keep an eye on him like you've said.
