Guest Greensleeves
Nelly's doctor just called and said that although she's behaving fine and drinking well, she still won't eat. They've been trying her on canned KD and another bland canned prescription diet. She hasn't been eating anything canned here at home the last several days, either. He's a little worried that she won't eat, but also said that 50% of dogs won't eat when they're in the hospital, period (even if they're fine). So he invited us to bring her some food she might eat--but she's got more bloodwork in the morning and I don't want to throw off her blood values by feeding her something besides her kidney food. Tomorrow after the bloodwork we'll try something actually tasty. So, anyway, what she's been eating here at home is some kibble soaked in water, which I stick in the refrigerator. I'm wondering, though, if she'd prefer it warm/room temp (cold food doesn't have as strong a flavor) instead. So: Can I soak the kibble in water and NOT stick in the fridge for the next four hours or so? The last thing we need to do is give Nelly food poisoning on top of everything. Guest Scouts_mom
Why not wait until you're at the vet to soak it in water? I'm sure they won't mind giving you some water and waiting while you stir it. By the way, my girls love broth on their kibble.

Greylover97
Shouldn't be a problem. Jake's food is also wet down with water, if he doesn't touch it at all in the morning, I give it to him for dinner. Never had any tummy issues.
