Guest letsgoflyers81
Hi everyone! My wife and I just adopted our first Greyhound, Santos. My wife and I adopted him from Greyhound Angels. We have another dog and a cat, but we've been researching adopting a Greyhound for a while and decided now was the time. He'll be three in November, never officially raced, and he's a real sweetheart. He's been tested cat safe and got along well with Nacho (our Pembroke Welsh Corgi) when we introduced them at the shelter. Santos and Sushi (the cat) pretty much ignore each other but so far they're getting along just fine. We've read up on Greyhounds and know the basics, but I'm sure we have a lot to learn. Feel free to ask questions or offer advice. And now for pictures! (click for big) These are from Santos' first night here. Welcome home! Heyyyy guys! What's this thing? Pay attention to meeeee!!! Keep that thing away from me! Sup guys? The boys are getting acquainted Chilaxing together And more from today. More hanging out Yoga Greyhound? Such a cute boy Yup, still cute

Did he have any trouble adjusting to your hardwood floors? Have you tried the stairs I can see you have? Guest letsgoflyers81
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm glad I found this forum, especially since Santos is the first Greyhound I've ever cared for. He's very handsome and I love his name. Are you in New Jersey, too? I have a GAA boy, also. We're in North Wales, PA. We looked up Greyhound rescues and shelters in the area and GAA had a few dogs that seemed like they might be a good fit so we stopped in. Great pictures! Santos is beautiful and looks happy. Fun to see as I look forward to bringing my own girl home at the end of the month. Did he have any trouble adjusting to your hardwood floors? Have you tried the stairs I can see you have? He doesn't seem to have any trouble with the floors. Nacho actually had some issues with them, sliding around on them. We just bought the house a few weeks ago so it's a big change for him. We're keeping Santos downstairs for right now. Sushi has relaxed around him, but we'd like to give him the option to go upstairs as a safe place if he's feeling threatened. There have been a couple times where the gate at the stairs came loose or wasn't put up and Santos tried to run up. So I think he'll be just fine with them once we give him access to the second floor. He looks more than settled, he looks like he's lived there his entire life and is comfortable! Congratz and Welcome to GT the all Greyhound Resource! I bring my first greybaby home in 7 days... The wait is Killing ME! Such cute fur babies! That reminds me, I need to post a furbaby before Dunk and after Dunk LOL that should be hilarious! I wouldn't quite call him settled yet, but he's getting there. He goes into his crate fine at night, but then starts whining soon after. He's also up at the crack of dawn and makes sure we're up too. Hopefully this will change with repetition. Guest crazy4greys
Welcome from CT! Santos is a handsome boy!! Is the blue collar a martingale? If so, it should never be left on inside the house or while in a crate if used. The D ring can get caught on things and your boy could get hurt or worse.
