Guest LazyBones
recently, i took gumby to the vet to try adequan shots in combination with her arthritis meds. one thing i forgot to ask was how often she should get them. so, i wanted to ask some of you who get the shots for their hounds....how often do you do it? also, how soon after starting the shots did you see a difference (if any) in your hound(s)? Guest spider9174
i have a friend that gives her Shih Tzu adequan. When they started, he was getting them every 2 weeks for 6 weeks or so. Now it is once a month.
Guest CyndiW
I think the normal protocol is twice a week for 4 weeks and then whatever the vet decides to do for follow-up (i.e. once a month, once every 3 weeks, etc.). At least, that has been my experience. My two had them for more acute injuries instead of arthritis but we saw improvement with one of them after 1 shot but the other one took all 8 before we saw results. greytlucy
We did twice a week for four weeks during the induction period and then moved to every 4-6 weeks. I've been able to tell just by watching when it's time for another one.
