Trilostane & Greys

Fiona's ultrasound today revealed normal adrenal glands, so she is pituitary dependent hyperadreno...PDH. This was the last test that we needed to get the diagnosis. This is actually good news because she won't need surgery, just meds.

The vet is researching Trilostane use in greyhounds. Does anyone have any experience with this Rx and their greyhound?

Not in greys, but my neighbor's Frenchie had it. It took months to get the right dosage for him and she had to have the meds shipped from the UK. He actually ended up moving from Cushings to Addison's after about a year on the meds.

Fiona will start on Trilostane tomorrow. We have found a supplier in Arizona. General assessment from my research is to start low/go slow.

Thank you for the Ohio state suggestion. We'll keep that for future reference in case of complications. I did hear back from a greyhound owner on a Yahoo group for Cushings that was successfully dosing her grey with Trilostane.

It's a big improvement over Lysodren... that said, it's still some pretty heavy duty stuff, but you have a lot of options when it comes to treating Cushings.
