greypuppyluv
I'm so sorry for your loss of handsome Comet. He was such a handsome boy. Whippets have a way of working their way into our hearts......hold on tight to his memories and he will always be with you. Hopefully there is a porch swing at the bridge he can enjoy swinging on until you meet up again. If you have more pictures of him and feel like sharing them, we would love to see them. Guest melissa
Tears flowed as I read your post. My 11 year old whippet is going in to have a cancer removed next week, and I can't help but think that her time is drawing near. I am not ready. You are in my thoughts. fsugrad
Thank you everyone for your very kind words of sympathy following our loss of our beloved Comet. We DID receive a sign as we were hoping, and we are convinced it was a sign from him. Please let me know what you think. The afternoon after Comet's passing, I bagged up all of Comet's food to donate to a local pet charity. My husband took the big empty rubbermaid plastic container that we used to keep his food in, outside so that he could hose it out. While he was doing that, for some reason he felt compelled to look up. There was a large hawk standing on the upstairs dormer window of our oldest son's bedroom. Comet slept almost every night of his life in the bed that is right by that window, with our son... The hawk was just staring down at my husband; Jim kept looking at the hawk, which stayed perched on top of that dormer window. He didn't move, neither did Jim, who was in tears. Then after a long moment, it stretched out its wings and flew up and away. Jim says that he feels that at that moment, Comet was sending us a message that his soul was journeying to its final destination. I should say that a hawk sighting isn't totally unheard of around here, but it is on the unusual side. We felt very comforted by this, and we hope that our angel Comet will send us a sign from time to time...
