Meandmy
I've exhausted all other efforts, so Shadow is going to have to wear a muzzle for a while until his knee heals up. Can someone tell me (or post a pic) how to tape his muzzle so he can't lick through it? Also, can he be left in his muzzle during the day while we're at work, or will he not be able to get water? Thanks for your help Quote Jenn, missing Shadow (Wickford Big Tom), Pretty Girl (C's Pretty) and Tori (Santoria)
Batmom
Here is how I taped Joseph's so he couldn't lick the incision in his tummy. Depending on where your incision is, might need to put a little tape on the sides instead of or in addition to the front. As you can see, I left holes so he could drink easily. He wore the muzzle any time we couldn't watch him, including when we left the house and overnight. I used white medical adhesive and just stuck it to itself: Quote Star aka Starz Ovation (Ronco x Oneco Maggie*, litter #48538), Coco aka Low Key (Kiowa Mon Manny x Party Hardy, litter # 59881), and mom in IllinoisWe miss Reko Batman (Trouper Zeke x Marque Louisiana), 11/15/95-6/29/06, Rocco the thistledown whippet, 04/29/93-10/14/08, Reko Zema (Mo Kick x Reko Princess), 8/16/98-4/18/10, the most beautiful girl in the whole USA, my good egg Joseph aka Won by a Nose (Oneco Cufflink x Buy Back), 09/22/2003-03/01/2013, and our gentle sweet Gidget (Digitizer, Dodgem by Design x Sobe Mulberry), 1/29/2006-11/22/2014, gone much too soon. Sighthounds4me
If you have a stool cup, you could also place that, and then place tape in the areas where the stool cup does not cover. We've done that before... Guest sheila
My Kiowa had a muzzle that had the entire front and sides around his mouth covered. He was still able to drink by submerging the muzzle in the water dish.
Guest chucknstan
We have the same issue and got a stool guard - it's just a little cup that fits in the front of the muzzle. It works great and they can drink water through it.
