Guest FlyingHound Posted June 19, 2008 Share Posted June 19, 2008 (edited) We've been so incredibly thrilled today to welcome our new guy: AMF Surfer Dude: http://www.greyhound-data.com/d?i=1210347 He's a beautiful reddish fawn boy with a cute white blaze on his chest and those adorable dark ears. AND you'll notice on his profile that today is actually his birthday! How awesome is that??? He turns four today, but as you can see he's prematurely grey around the muzzle: He already likes toys: He was very concerned when the GRFT folks drove off...he was looking out the window with his ears straight up and whining like "Hay wait, where you guys goin'?" But he settled down after a few minutes and has been following me around the house ever since (which has gotten interesting since we have a pretty small bathroom.) I flatter myself that this means he already loves me. He's very curious, and has been sticking that long pointy nose into everything he can reach (which is a LOT, he's TALL!) He's briefly met the cats, and no problems so far. He seems to stop being interested immediately with only a pretty gentle "No." I think he's going to be a very responsive, sensitive guy. He came from a foster home where he lived with two cats, two kids, and a Doberman. Do you think he's handling the transition ok? He seems so nervous! We're over the moon in love with him already, and he's only been here four hours??? Now we just have to start buying him handsome collars that will flatter his pretty colouring, and more squeaky toys, and he needs a name!!! We decided to wait til he'd been here a day or two to really find what name fits him. He does seem to answer to Dude, but our little boy wants to call him "Clifford" and DH really likes "Havoc" We'll see... Happy Birthday, wonderful hound, and thank you so very, very much to the incredible people at GRFT who went out of their way to get him here and make sure this happened today for the Birthday Boy!! I don't think there can be anything bigger than being given a forever home for a birthday gift. I'm already shopping online for a cushier dog bed, more squeaky toys, and the kind of sharp wardrobe a ladies' man like him deserves. I guess I'm a sucker for that mature, sophisticated look.
