Guest crazy4greys
I just wanted to share this story. Winnie went in for her dental last Friday. I sent her with her muzzle knowing that she would be freaked out by them touching her and would try to bite. I have to hold her while she gets her nails done. Anyway, when she was ready to go home, my vet told me that knowing how scared she was, they had started the anesthesia while she was still standing on the floor. When she started getting groggy, that's when they picked her up and laid her down on the table. He didn't want her to become more stressed and upset. I just think my vet is so awesome, kind and understanding of his patients and their owners. He is greyt!
Guest tarzanmom
We took Tarzan in to a new vet near our new house last week because I noticed an abscessed tooth. They worked him in the morning I called...and were great about. Dr. Foster recommended getting him in as soon as possible for his cleaning and to extract that tooth. I was a little apprehensive because we usually take him to a vet with extensive greyhound experience. Dr. Foster talked to my husband and reassured him that they treat other greyhounds at his office and that he is aware of the special anesthetic needs. After discussing it, and not being able to get him in with our other vet until July 10th for the cleaning, we decided to trust them with our baby. My husband was quite impressed that they called while he was on the table to discuss the extraction (he only need that one out). When I picked him up, they were great! They went over the apt and made sure I was aware of his recession (which we knew about since it was severe when we got him) and going over home care and meds. Anyway, Dr. Foster called today just to see how Tarzan was doing. I was so impressed! Our other office has done two cleanings for him and never called to check up. We will definitely be going back to them-great patient/parent care, quick to get him in, and very cost effective. It's great to find a wonderful vet office!....and the fact that it's less than 5 miles from home is great! We saved probably $10-15 in gas alone
Guest md7nd
thats greyt! Its always wonderful to know your vet is really looking out for them. We have just started using a vet, but the few times we have met/used him, he seems wonderful so we'll stick with him

Guest greytkidsmom
I think we finally have a winner too. We have seen her three times now. She was always nice to the dogs, that is a given, but she really listens to my concerns and we come up with solutions together. This last visit was to introduce Lucas (our new chip) to her. He was super-scared to be there and tried to duck out lots of times. She could tell how nervous he was and instead of escorting him into the back for bloodwork as usual, she had the techs come into the room to draw it so I could stay with him. They even called with the bloodwork results the next day. Hopefully this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship...

Guest greytbookert
What a great vet! I love it when they make special accomodations for the stressed hounds. My vet does that too... we are actually allowed to stay while they are being put under! That is only because DH works there. We are even allowed to be there (if we want) during the procedure. I, typically, can't watch but DH does. Then we are allowed to sit with them while they come out of anesthesia. Needless to say, when a procedure is being done, I take the day off I hope Winnie is doing well after her dental! Mama needs to go in for one and I'm terrified!
