Guest Maddison
Stinkerbelle seems to be peeing in the house a lot more lately. Just once a day every other day or so when we are at work (she has a dog walker too!). She also gets up at 5 am and paces and whines until I come downstairs to let her out for a pee. Honestly, she used to be able to hold it, now it seems like she always needs to pee. No UTI either, checked that. She is officially considered geriatric by her vet. I'm thinking it is just because she's older now she doesn't have the young bladder anymore. I know I am more like that now.
Guest EmilyAnne
How old is she? My 13 yr old just needs more oppurtunities to be let out, but other than that he is fine.
macoduck
There's a medication called Proin (pronounced pro - in). She could be started on a low dose and see if things improve. Guest ejw
Has she been checked for diabetes? I took my mutt (14+) in looking for meds for incontinence and she was tested and found positive for diabetes. Since she started insulin, it is like night and day -- she rarely has accidents in the house now. Used to be it didn't matter how often she went outside, and she got so she would be laying in pee and didn't seem to know.
Guest luckydog
What Macoduck said. Proin helps the dog control the bladder muscles.
Guest Maddison
She's 9 now. I don't know how that happened! She was just 2 1/2 when we got her! I have her on adequine shots for her bones, I'll have her checked for diabetes! It can't hurt. Plus, I'll see about the pee control drugs. I just had her at the vet for her annual, I totally forgot to check on the peeing in the house part, I was so concerned about her bones and this stupid coughing that she does which turned out to be nothing, just dry air in the house. It's much better now that it's so humid you can't sit still without getting all sweaty.
Penelopesslave
I'd have her checked for a bladder/kidney infection first. Quote Melissa, Penelope (LC's Wild Rose) Missing sweet Bell (EMK Bolivar Bell). grey14me
sometimes, even when they don't test as having a uti, a quick week's worth of anitbiotics will fix them up. my angel, Bailey reacted very badly on the proin...I tried the anitbios just to see if it would help and it did. it's worth a try if your vet will do it Quote Michelle...forever missing her girls, Holly 5/22/99-9/13/10 and Bailey 8/1/93-7/11/05 Religion is the smile on a dog...Edie Brickell Wag more, bark less :-)
Guest boni923
My girl has been doing the exact same thing lately, used to be up at 6 to 7 am now some days she gets up as early as 4 am. She wakes us up to go out and hasn't had an accident yet though. We figured it was her age.
Guest gretzky
My almost 5 year old girl was exhibiting the same behavior. 3 cultures done and all were negative. Finally when she peed in the car after a 45 minute ride I insisted something HAD to be wrong. Vet was thinking stones. They did an ultrasound guided collection and it came back positive for 2 different bacteria. Still don't understand how it doesn't show on my samples but we have been accident free since treatment started. She had 3 weeks of Baytril and Amoxicillin. We go back for another collection on the 21st, 3 weeks after finishing the meds, to make sure we got rid of it all. Maybe you could have the Vet do the urine collection and re-test just to be sure? Hope you find some answers. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Burpdog
Check for a UTI and do a urine culture. Many times they respond to an antibiotic even though there is a negative urinialysis. Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits

Guest snakes
any food or treat changes. My last senior started peeing when we weren't around even for 2-3hrs all of a sudden. Tirns out the food that she was on (one she would finally eat!!) was corn based, switched her off and two days later she was right as rain.... Guest Maddison
We'll try the food thing. The vet said her liver levels looked a little high on her last blood test but nothing too out of line. She also had a lot of bilirubin in the urine sample. The vet also said it is possible that it's food, we'll try switching and wait it out and see if it gets any better before giving her drugs.
