Guest SusanP
I posted a few days ago about Dr. Doug yiping when he gets up. The vet checked everything throughly and found no problems. He didn't give a hint. He's walking fine, though he seems inclined to walk up the stair rather than run. He's on Tramadol for pain (liver enzymes elevated and so vet didn't want to use a NSAID), but all it does is make him dopy. He still yiipes when he tries to rise from his side. I think now that it's the very first twisting motion he makes with his upper body that causes it. Not sure yet if it's only twisting to the left or right. I need to call the vet and let her know the meds aren't working and we'er isolating the problem area, but what does this sound like to you all? I know some of you suggested chiropractors, and I'm a little leery--not sure we have any near us anyway. Would want a vet's recommendation. Any thoughts? Could this just be a pulled muscle or does it sound more like a spinal/nerve issue? help, please!
CaliforniaGreys
What about acupuncture? Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless
Guest SusanP
Our only experience with an acupuncturist was so weird and unhelpful that I am not as anxious to try it again. And i'd really like to know what the problem is before poking around trying to treat it, if you know what I mean. Could it be as simple as a muscle kink in his neck/upper back like I sometimes get? CaliforniaGreys
A lot of things "could be" I would never want to speculate. I would talk to your vet. I wish you the best, and comfort for Dr Doug Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless
Guest SusanP
Yeah, but the vet didn't know...
CaliforniaGreys
Yeah, but the vet didn't know... Wait a sec, the vet can't give you any answers? I don't get that...maybe time for a second opinion Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless
Guest HeatherDemps
After we amputated Dempsey's (front) leg, he started yipping almost every single time he sat up from a lying down position. I'm pretty sure it was the neck muscles. I spent a lot of time massaging those muscles and that seemed to help.
