Guest OurGreytLife
Today was a bad day at work. I work at a veterinary hospital and a good client of ours lost one of their greys to cancer. It's hard enough to lose one of our hounds, but these folks have had more then their share of bad luck lately. About three months ago, this client lost another grey to illness. They adopted another hound and everything seemed to be going fine. On the day they went to Florida, the new hound and "Boomer" got into an intense fight. The new hound had a few minor lacerations, but the older Boomer was tore up pretty bad. In all my years working at a veterinary hospital, I've never seen such wounds on a dog and survived. Boomer pulled through the surgery to repair the wounds and endured so much thereafter. After many weeks Boomer's wounds healed and he looked great. What a miraculous recovery the doctors and the staff felt. We were so happy for Boomer and his family. About 3 weeks ago, Boomer's owners discovered a lump on his neck. A biopsy was sent out and came back as cancer. Chemo was started but Boomer continued to lose weight despite all efforts. Today Boomer's owners made the painful decision to let Boomer go. Today my heart aches for Boomer and his owners. Run free Boomer. Your coat is sleek black again and scar free. You're running at the head of the pack with the wind in your face. I will miss you my friend.
