Guest jturchi2
Hi Everyone! I just wanted to give everyone who had been following our adventure a quick update. We are now two weeks post op with Dye and her external fixators, and things are looking exactly as they should. Dr. Leshem thoroughly examined Dye's knee today, took some x-rays, and gave her a good cleaning, and was very pleased with the way things are progressing. He even said that we don't have to use the towel when we walk her anymore! She is putting weight on her leg and has a hard time understanding why she can't just take off down the street! I think that has been the biggest challenge for John and me--getting Dye to realize that her knee isn't 100% yet and she can't just walk like normal. We did get a little bit of not so great news. On Thursday my evil ex-roommate moved out of the house when I wasn't home and didn't even bother to tell me. So I came home to Dye totally freaking out and she had messed in her crate. It took me 45 minutes to calm her down and she had torn at her bandage. I took her immediately to my vet here in town and had them check her out. They thought that she was fine, but definitely needed some R&R after that kind of a day. The next day I saw bandage in her stool, so I called the vet. Since she was eating her breakfast and dinner's normally and pooping some we didn't see any real cause of worry. Then yesterday she started acting a little sluggish and was having a difficult time pooping. She spent the night in ICU and had an IV all night because she was dehydrated. They ran blood work and everything came back normal (white blood cell counts, red blood cell counts, etc). This morning she was her normal self. We had our check up with her surgeon so he did a once over as well. We think she has colitis. So we are now on meds for that and will hopefully be back to normal in a couple of days! Needless to say we are all relieved the evil roommate is LONG GONE! Thank you all for your happy, healing thoughts. I just know that they really helped Dye through the last month. We are 2 weeks down and about 6 weeks left! Here's to the road to recovery!
