Guest i_heart_greys
We were just in the E-Vet three weeks ago with HGE. She got better now it's happening again. I can't afford another trip to the E-Vet. I don't know what I should do. I'll call the regular vet to see if we can get in tomorrow. In the meantime, bland diet and water? Any advice? Edited to add: they can see her at 9 tomorrow morning. I hope they can help her! Does anyone have any experience with recurring HGE? Or does this sound like something worse? thanks! amy Edited May 19, 2008 by i_heart_greys
TheFullHouse
Is she a pooh eater? That's what caused my Emmy's HGE and I had to get a stool guard for her muzzle and it's never happened again. Could she be eating something she shouldn't? Guest Winterwish
Maybe your vet will treat it cost-wise as a continuation of treatment? and maybe only charge for medication. I hope your pup is feeling better soon.

Guest i_heart_greys
The good news is that it's not bacteria, worms or cancer. The bad news is they don't know what's causing it. The fact that it's bright red blood, the vet feels it's in her lower GI tract or colon. We have to keep her on a bland diet and away from grass. They say it's colitis and likely triggered by food or grass. She's an old broodie that we got last fall. She's had health problems from the day we got her. I so wish she would get better; she deserves it!!!
