greypuppyluv
On the side of our refrigerator, we have magnets with phone numbers for the following (in case of an emergency): - Adoption group - Veterinarian - Emergency Vet - Animal Poison Hotline - Microchip company - Animal Ambulance I just think it's important to have these numbers easily accessible in case one of our dogs gets out (heaven forbid!) or one of them gets hurt and I'm in a panic and can't think clearly. I know that the numbers I need are all in one area so they're easy to find. If someone has any other places/numbers to add, please post them....I would love to know if I've forgotten anything. Guest FullMetalFrank
I have all my info in a file; I really should make a refrigerator magnet with everything on it. I do know the couple of times I have had to leave town I left all the info and already-filled-out insurance forms in case anything happened. I guess I should keep that stuff more handy than in my file drawer.
Guest Janeysmom
We have all of these numbers listed EXCEPT Animal Poison Hotline and Animal Ambulance. Does anyone live in the MA area who could direct me where to find these numbers?
Guest KennelMom
- Adoption group: No Not sure why I'd need it as an emergency number. - Veterinarian: Memorized - Emergency Vet: Yes, on a magnet and business card in my purse - Animal Poison Hotline: Yep, magnet on our fridge - Microchip company: Nope - Animal Ambulance: Don't have one around here (that I know of) We have all of these numbers listed EXCEPT Animal Poison Hotline and Animal Ambulance. Does anyone live in the MA area who could direct me where to find these numbers? You can get a free ASPCA poison control magnet on their site: http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagen...pro_apcc_magnet Edited May 15, 2008 by KennelMom
Guest boondog
- Adoption group: No Not sure why I'd need it as an emergency number. I think it would be a good idea to have handy in case a pup gets loose. They can get the troops together fast. As far as a medical emergency, you're probably right. Guest greytexplorer
Here's why you need to post ALL of those phone numbers in a conspicuous place: YOU MAY NOT BE THERE WHEN THE EMERGENCY HAPPENS
Guest krisandzoo
Thank you for posting this. I too have a file BUT sometimes it may not be enough. I've also been meaning to have copies of vet records handy in every car and usually just keep my file in my car. Not the best set up - I think going into work early to make some copies is in my future.

That was the purpose of me adding it, but I was thinking later that this post might be better off in EEG because I was trying to cover different scenarios with different phone numbers. I added the animal ambulance because I have a magnet on the fridge and thought that if you have one nearby, it couldn't hurt to have that up there too. I know that not everyone would have something like that available to them. Guest shelbygirl07
Being a certified Red Cross Animal First Aid/CPR Instructor, I urge my clients to please put these numbers in your first aid kit, wallet and glove box of any vehicle that your dog travels in. I have a La Niche Pet ID Wallet attached to shelby's collar with ALL this info in it including her medication, adoption group, vets info, my & DH & even my parent's contact info & Address. I also have info in there to check Greytalk's Amber Alert Forum for information on Shelby if she ever gets lost. Ours would be a pretty long list I have a folder on each dog and the group information is filed at the front of each folder. I figure that's good enough. I put my hands on it in a minute or two. Hubcitypam
My neighbors just have a list of #s if something goes wrong...adoption group to take the hounds if something dire happens to me, sisters # to take the Poodle, vet # (but they know it already). Adoption group can also come in handy if one of yours gets out. Vets and shelters often call groups first and that can expidite the homecoming. Guest Enna
Add a phone number for your local Animal Control office--an important contact if your greys get loose. In our area, I'm also supposed to call the police non-emergency number to notify them if the hounds get loose. That info was given to me by our neighbor who is a city police officer. Apparently, the more eyes keeping a lookout for a fast-moving dog in traffic the better the odds that the dog can be recovered before causing an accident. vjgrey
Thanks for the reminder. I have most of these numbers in my cell phone (backed up on my computer) but I need to post them on the fridge in case something happens while I'm not home.
