dbullwinkel
I took Garry to the vet Monday evening..the bottom of his left foot was swollen and heading up his leg. I saw a bump that looked like a blood blister. Vet did not see any signs of injury, so we assumed he may have bumped it jumping off the deck steps. His temp was a bit elevated and she didnt want to fool around with the swelling near his joint, so she put him on cipro and gave me metacam for pain. while she was writing the scripts, the blister broke open. I am glad it happened while we were there...so much blood! She wrapped it and told me bring him back in one week to have the bandage removed. yesterday, I noticed a small amount of blood on the bottom of the bandage--where the blood blister is. I changed the sock on it today and there is a small spot (nickel sized) of blood..but it feels dry when I touch it. I am not sure since this was a blood blister, that maybe it should be seeping a bit? should I be concerned? I am going to put a call into the vet this evening as he is now panting occasionally. He is a spooky guy and a very good patient. He hasnt attempted to chew the bandage at all. Any experiences/ suggestions? thanks
Guest sheila
I'm no expert on anything but if it was me I would want to take the bandage off and clean the foot up really well and then rebandage it.

tbhounds
Hope Garry is feeling better! Just one thought--I have always hear that Cipro is not absorbed (low bio availability) well by dogs (people yes, dogs not so much). So, if he ends up with a hard to treat infection you might ask your Dr about switching antibiotics
