Guest Grego
I was at an international festival this weekend in Houston, TX and I saw a bunch of beautiful dogs being total bums in the hot sun and had to go show some love. Turns out it was the GPA of Houston, I got some information and really sparked my interest about adopting one of these pups. I am the kind of guy who researches things to death until he makes a move, so I figured I would join up on here and learn some as well as waste some time until I get my new place in a month or so. My name is Greg. I am 27 years old from Houston. Project Manager for an oil and gas company down here. I have a 4.5 year old Lab Mix boy named Jager. See pictures below. He was also a rescue in the unconventional sense. He was hit by a vehichle in front of my college house, I took him and to the vet. He was positive for heart worms and had a broken leg. The plan was to fix him and find him a home... yea right! I have now had him for about four years and he is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. He has taught me far more than I have done for him. Always had a very soft spot for dogs, getting something so nice and helping a good cause in the process really gets me going. I hope to be a member of the GH community soon. Thanks in advance for the welcomes, glad to be here! Greg Here he is on the porch in Sepia And here he is with some christmas spirit@! Guest susanwantsagrey
Hi Greg, I'm one of the GPA Houston people. Just to let you know, we have a volunteer program on Saturday mornings. You can come help walk and groom the greyhounds in our kennel. Just fill out the volunteer application on the GPA website and someone will be in touch. This is an excellent way to get some first-hand experience with greyhounds! Susan

Guest ladysmom
Hi Greg! I am also from GPA Houston. I was first introduced to greyhounds at Ifest. I did the same you are. I researched as much as I could! I also volunteered at the kennel as 'susanwantsagrey' suggested. This was very helpful in that I got a lot of on hand experience handling greyhounds. You will learn a lot about what goes in to caring for one. I have now been a ownee of a greyhound for over a year and I could not be happier! Guest threedognight
Hi, and welcome from Florida! We volunteered at our local GPA before we adopted. It was the best experience. We learned so much and we got to spend lots of time with the dogs. Good luck!
