WE are new greyhound owners and have a question reqarding growths that seem to appear daily.

When we got our dog she had a small growth on the rib cage, this was taken off surgically while she was being spay. Seven days later she returned to the vet for suture removal. The night before there was blood on the floor and I noticed a growth

between the pads of her feet. The vet looked at it and said it was nothing to worry about, it was a growth similar to a

wart. He surgically removed it. Now today ten days later another appears between the pads of her feet on a hind foot.

Have any of you ever experienced this and if so what is it and how do I cure it. I cannot see putting this poor dog through

yet another surgery. We have had her just over a month and she has had anethesia twice already.

Can you have your adoption group's vet take a look? Not every little bump has to be removed and you are wise to want to limit anesthesia.

I'm assuming the vet biopsied the first lump between the toes? Do you know the results--I would base my decision someone on what those said.

I agree about limiting anesthesia (and foot surgery--it's hard to get them to heal) if possible.

If it is a wart like growth, there is no need for it to be surgically removed...what we always tell people is...when you first notice the growth, besides having the Dr. look at it,...draw the size of it on your calander on the day you first noticed it..then check back in a couple weeks and you can see if it is growing in size..if it keeps growing, it is often best to have the lump/mass(s) removed....If it is at all suspicious though, I would opt for surgical removal...but get a Veterinarian you really trust or even seek out a specialist..

Could it be a corn? I do know they can come back rather quickly. Let us know what you find out. Paws crossed here.

I think you are possibly mom to Rowdy who was trying to register?

Hopefully Rowdy is feeling a lot better since her spay and the growth removals.

I'm wondering what color the growths are.

My grey used to get little mole type growths here and there over the years, they were black in color. They alwasy just seemed to dissappear.

All growths need to be looked at of course, and definitely a black mole type growth can mean something serious. But in my grey's case, they were insignificant.

If you're the same person, she sounds like a greyt girl! :dogcookie

my male has the same thing on his belly. the vet wanted to "just watch it". we just watched it grow to the size of a golfball!. it doesn't bother him; he's almost 13 and has upset stomach issues, so i'm not planning on putting him under anesthesia. the vet keeps an eye on it still. unfortunately for your grey, it's between the pads of the feet. if it continues to grow as jack's did, you'll have a problem.

we did have a boston terrier that had to have a toe removed due to a tumor between her toes. not to alarm you, but it was cancerous. keep a close watch and good luck.
