Guest FullMetalFrank
I was brushing Frank's teeth tonight (we just started, this is about the third time brushing with the Dentatreat) and I must have hit a tender spot because he was just gushing blood. I put a towel over the area and applied pressure, it stopped readily, and he showed no pain response; I just felt so bad. I know that I am trying to do what is best for him and he really does need the brushing (I said in an earlier post that most of his teeth look good; it is his upper canines that have a surplus of tartar, and that was the area where the bleeding occured.) On a good note, I can see some improvement already, I guess I just need to be a little more gentle with the toothbrush.
Guest Ohiogreymom
Aw poor Frankie, but as you keep doing it, he'll feel so much better!

Guest lotsagreys4me
Just keep it up and it will get better. Use the chicken flavored toothpaste, my dogs love it.
Guest greyfiend
It's normal for gums to bleed if the animal/person has not had their teeth brushed in awhile. Keep brushing regularly and the gums won't bleed.
fritofeet
I've done that to Lucy too. I find if I wet the toothbrush in warm water and squish the bristles with my thumb to make sure they aren't stiff and pokey before I put the Dentatreat on it works better. I do this before I brush teeth with toothpaste too. The greyhound gunk sticks in the bristles and doesn't always rinse out.
