Guest GimmeGreys
I have no personal experience with osteo, but my vet thinks Dexter may have it. He has an old racing injury to his hock, and he usually favors it a little in the winter and certain weather. Lately he's been favoring it more than usualy, and the other day, he quit using it all together. Looking at the radiographs, my vet thinks it might be something like osteomylitis, or possibly osteosarcoma. Just curious, has anyone heard of osteo in an old injury site? Is this fairly common? Wondering if it makes it more likely of a spot. Please keep Dexter in your thoughts. We have sent his rads to a specialist, and are waiting to hear. Guest MorganKonaAlex
There is a theory osteo. happens more often at a site of previous bone trauma. I tried to research it after I heard about it. I found some anedotal papers but no definitive study. I'm sorry to hear about Dexter.

grey14me
definitely have an expert second opinion. osteo doesn't normally show up in a hock...it is most often in the knee of a back leg and the shoulder or ankle on a front leg. :hope Quote Michelle...forever missing her girls, Holly 5/22/99-9/13/10 and Bailey 8/1/93-7/11/05 Religion is the smile on a dog...Edie Brickell Wag more, bark less :-)
