pinkeye thread

So after a weekend back on the drops, Jet eye cleared up enough for me to think I'd just discontinued them prematurely. The surface was clear, he wasn't oozing goobers...but he was still light sensitive, and definitely squinty. I was holding his eyelids apart, trying to see how red the white (very) was when I realized that I could see something in there. I don't know what it is-it looks like the edge of a contact slipped way back, so it might be a hair. I went after it with saline and tried to wash it out but no luck. Jet was amazingly patient with us while we tried to get it out, but now that we've stopped he's got that side of his face buried in the pillow of his bed.

I'll definitely be calling the vet tomorrow for an appointment. Poor guy-that's got to be miserable!

UPDATE Wed 11:15: Hubby took Jet in this morning and it's a *huge* hair. Dr C got part of it out (it apparently came out in pieces) but there's still a big piece in there, too far back for her to be comfortable getting out herself. They're on their way home now with the number to the local veterinary ophthalmologist, and have forwarded his record there. I'll call them for an appointment as soon as Hubby and Jet get back.

I spoke to the eye care clinic and they made Jet an appointment for next Tuesday. I thought that was a long way away--I'd certainly be miserable waiting that long--but it was either that or March 9th. In the meantime, artificial tears if it's bothering him, and the eye drops if he gets goobery again.

Has he been seen by an opthalmologist yet? I think he should.

I'm wondering if he has a lens luxation? :unsure

He technically hasn't been seen by the vet yet-she prescribed the eye drops by phone, but saw the very beginning of the pinkness during his well-doggy check a few days previous to that.

This practice's front desk opens at 7, so I'll give them a call bright and early, see what Dr C has to say when she sees him in person. I'm hoping it's a hair, and that she can fish it out easily. :goodluck

Yeah....I thought the same thing. I had a cat that had a luxated lens and they way you described it, that's what it sounds like.

Good luck with your boy.
