Guest HeatherDemps
Dempsey managed to sneak into the bedroom and somehow got himself up on the bed to lay in the sun. I'm not comfortable with letting him get down on his own and I'm home alone this afternoon. What is the easiest way to lift him down? I've never had to pick him up much b/c he HATES it and in the past, DH and I have done it together. (Figured it'd be best to post in this section since people with amputee hounds are probably in this area the most!)
Cheryl2
One arm around the front of the chest and one under the belly would be the easiest. Batmom
If he really hates it, slip his kennel muzzle on first. He might bop you a good one but if he lashes out you won't be hurt. Guest HeatherDemps
He wasn't happy about it but I did finally manage to get Dempsey off the bed a little while ago....
Guest MorganKonaAlex
For my front leg amputee, I place one arm immediately behind his front leg. Then I put my other arm behind his back legs and scoop him up. I found my back leg amputee more challenging because he was so front heavy (not to mention at least 15 lbs. heavier). He was too front heavy for the same positioning, so I did one arm in front of his front legs and the other one behind is back leg.
