Great news for anyone who read my earlier post last week. I am now the proud owner of a beautiful black little girl from our local rescue centre! My hubbie mellowed and has been welcoming to our new adition. :colgate

It all happened so fast. I had the home visit on sunday, went to meet her monday (she was only cat trainable they had) and collected her yesterday. Thus far (touch wood) it has been a breeze. Despite being a shy little girl she is settling in well, is house-clean, eating and enjoying copious amounts of cuddles from me and the kids.

For anyone who would like to see a pic paste the link below into your address bar and there she is.

I am one proud mummy and adore her. The camera does not do her justice as she really is the most stunning and petite girl.

Her ears give her such character I agree. I have changed her name to Willow as she is such a small and willowy girl. She is being so good and when I take her out ahe is mauled by passers-by!

She never actually raced (too slow apparently) and is a nervous little girl. Been on a long walk today and she is fazed by everything. Trying so hard not to make things worse by reassuring her when she leaps out of her skin. Any other tips for helping socialise her would be gratefully recieved.

Oh and I have caught my 'non0dog-loving' hubby chatting and talking to her several times. He even said he is impressed with her overall.........they will be best friends before I know it.

P.S I can see why she never raced, our cat has run up/away from under her nose several times and she doesnt bat an eyelid. Much more interested in her comfy bed than terrorising my moggy!!!

Congratulations! She is gorgeous! In answer to your question about getting her used to all the new things in her environment, if I act calm, speak in an even tone, keep my body language relaxed then our hounds learn that new things are ok. If I react by talking excitedly, jump in reaction to a loud noise etc then the hounds learn to react to the new thing. While it is sometimes hard to be a "nonreactor", this will help Willow learn also to be a nonreactor.

Looking forward to hearing more about Willow!
