Guest couchpotato
In Remembrance of our "My T. Jazzy", aka Jazzy, aka Bugaboo. As a present to my wife on her 30th birthday I presented her with a book on greyhounds and an adoption form. Back then we didn't realize you could actually choose a hound, we were simply happy to support the GPA cause and would be happy with nearly any grey, and when we were told about "My T Jazzy" it seemed perfect, as we are fans of Jazz music. It was meant to be. Jazzy ended up being a hound that frustrated me to no end at times yet could charm the pants off anyone, I could never stay mad at him no matter what trouble he got into. And believe me when I tell you he got into trouble. We learned what a counter surfer was in very short order and it was a few months before we finally realized this crafty grey had to be crated when we were not around. There was the half pound of raw bacon, the garbage several times, the bag of hot dog buns (yes bag and all, pretty much came out the way it when in), pulled the crock pot off the stove twice (was not hot), and the pecan pie, that one was intense, looked like some one had slaughtered a pig in my kitchen. He had jumped over the baby gate, got to the counter and pulled the (glass) pie plate off the counter and proceeded to start licking it up. half my kitchen floor was covered in broken glass and bloody pie, even with his cut paws and cut on his tongue he still managed to appear very proud and happy with himself when I walked in the door only to see him on the wrong side of the gate. How he survived all his exploits is a mystery to us. Of course I could go on. What made this so hard was even with his swollen foot, he acted like nothing was amiss. Enough to continuously make us second guess our decision. But it was clear from the symptoms and from reading the experiences of others on this forum, that allowed us to make the right decision with confidence. Though we are devastated by the loss, we know it was the correct thing to do.
