I've been on for a while, bit I can't recall whether or not I "properly" intorduced myself, and more importantly my man Cooper. Sadly, Cooper died in October; but on Saturday, Piet came to live with us! He is a big, black, 15 month old goofy boy who is learning the routine of a new (smaller) house without any dogs (he was fostered with 2 others). He's very different from our proud, dignified, sensitive old boy, but we think he'll be lots of fun. Here's a link to his picture on the Quad Cities Greyhound Adoption site (if I can make it work): http://www.qcgreyhoundadoption.com/retiredracers/pete.html

Oh yeah -- the name -- his registered name is Pete, but we like to personalize (or change) the names a bit. DH is working on a PhD in art history, and decided that Pete (Piet) reminds him of people in 16th century Dutch paintings because he is all black with a white chest, thus the Dutch spelling of Pete. DH is a little odd, but we love him.

Congrats on the new addition and so sorry for your loss of Cooper. Piet (love the spelling!) is adorable. I love the big goofy boys. They are so much fun. ;)

Hi! I'm very new here but wanted to say that your boy is very handsome. I looked at his info and he looks very much like my Lexie, who I've only had since 12/22, and she's also a Flying Penske pup. Small world! Here she is:

Wow -- they DO look alike. And Lexie is gorgeous. We haven't been able to get any sleepy pcitures yet, mainly because Piet rarely sleeps (or so it seems).

Cute! They could be twins! Have you looked that the photo of their pop. Flying Penske? They definitely have his coloring. There is another boy in the adoption group where Lexie came from who looks the same, too. We thought it would be fun to bring him home for her, but I don't think blind kitty could take it right now! :lol
