Dempsey had some complications from the sedation today- don't know the medical terms but his temp went up (105) and his heartbeat was elevated (200-250 HB per minute). His abdomen was tender so they were concerned about bloat and his spleen so they did an x-ray and ultrasound. Spleen was okay but pancreas was irritated and the liver was funky- they did a FNA of that and tests are okay with that. He had to be on fluids for awhile and then when things settled down, they did a FNA of the lesion and we won't know those results until Monday. While he was sedated, they took new x-rays and the oncologists didn't see anything at first but the radiologist did confirm that there is in fact a lesion on his front leg. Nuts. I knew there would be but of course a part of me was hoping the intial x-rays were crap quality or something and it was all a mistake... didn't hold on to that hope for long though. I am hopeful that they got the diagnostic sample that we needed. It's a lot of hurry up and wait, which I've gotten more used to in this short time but it still sucks. On the positive side, all of the doctors were wonderful and I know he was and will continue to be in good hands. Dempsey wasn't thrilled with the whole day but was definitely happy to see me once he was more stabilized and we hung out on a couch for awhile as he got more fluids. Got him home and he's sacked out on the couch but definitely more like his usual self- a couch potato.
