GreyAcresMom
Gosh! We have three rainbow players this year: Sabin: The little love bug kept my daughter sane... Then we lost Maverick: This is him in his favorite pastime...After a hard days work would run around the dirt roads with DH.. Then Raisin Lynn, the controller...the one that kept everyone in line..... Love and miss them all........ Guest MountainHounds
Flex Kavana, 9/18/99-7/25/07 My darling bouncy, cuddly boy, I only got six and a half short months with him, but he brought a smile to my face almost every day I spent with him. Diagnosed with cancer in March, he crossed the bridge in July and is now running pain free at the bridge

retiredracers
Wow, what a thread!! Tears are already flowing reading through everyone else's. 2007 has not been a good year for us and our loved ones. Our big boy, Prince, lost to heart failure at age 12 in February. Frisky, an adopter's first greyhound (not one of our adoptions) in May at age 15 (she's the dark brindle lying down). They adopted her at the age of 11 after she retired from her second career as a brood. Greg's pap died at age 94 the begining of June Our very first adoption, Major Vince, died at age 9 a few days after Greg's pap Our friend's greyhound, Barney, died a few days later at the age of 6. He was a 90 pounder with the biggest nose and overbite you ever did see. Our second greyhound, Rc's Bahama Buzz, died August 3, 2007 at age 13 from osteo. He had the softest fur and sweetest brown eyes. In September, our close friends had two greyhounds diagnosed with osteo within a few weeks of each other. Josie (aka Putthespinonit) was taken first in the middle of September and Inu fought hers until the end of October. Both girls had tumors in places that were not operable and chemo wasn't even recommended by the specialists. Here there are in a photo taken a few days before Josie's passing. Josie is the darker brindle on the left, their brother Chevy is in the center and Inu is on the right. Another of our favorite fosters, Answer to Ada, died the begining of October. She was only 6 years old and had the sweetest personality. My kitty, Justin, died on October 21st from kidney disease. We had him 11 years and he was between 5-8 years old when we adopted him. I miss him and his croaky meows. The next day, my sister's beagle, Abby, left us. She was around 18 years old and she was a fighter. She had two different cancers (both of which she should have died from fairly quickly) but that never stopped her tail from wagging. She was small but had the biggest presence in our house. Myakka Payton, aka Duke, died over Thanksgiving weekend. He was one of our first adoptions and first fosters after starting our own group. Handsome and sweet and another one taken too young. Then a few weeks ago, Willie, another adopter's greyhound and a sweet boy who found his forever home after being bounced, died from an intestinal cancer. I don't have a picture of him. My most favorite foster and my eeyore boy, Skipper, who was our foster for over a year while waiting for his forever family, lost his battle with lymphoma last Friday. He would have been 7 years old in January. I don't think I left anyone out and I certainly hope I didn't. The list is big enough without adding any more. I only have a few days left before 2007 ends and I am really hoping I can get there without losing anyone else. Quote Elphie, Kulee, Amanda, Harmony, Alex (hound mix), Phantom, Norbet, Willis (dsh), Autumn (Siamese) & Max (OSH) & mama rat, LaLa & baby Poppy! My bridge kids: Crooke & Mouse (always in my heart), Flake, Buzz, Snake, Prince (GSD), Justin & Gentry (Siamese), Belle (Aussie/Dalmatian mix), Rupert (amstaff) and Fred, Sirius, Severus, Albus, George, Hagrid, Hermione, Minerva, Marilyn, Wren, Molly, Luna, Tonks, Fleur, Ginny, Neville, Bill, Percy, Rose & Charlie (rats)

Guest VanillaBean
Sigh. I know this is really for dogs, but I just found out today and I lost a friend of mine. She was a patient and always made me laugh. We had such a good time when she came in. I always looked forward to her visits. She left Christmas eve riddled with cancer, but I know she is feeling better now. Miss you Vicki! Traci

Guest Naty
Autumn~ racing name JB Missy Wag. Autumn was diagnosed with OS the same day I sent her to the bridge. 12/1/95-8/22/07 I still miss you sweetie Likewise, ushered Troy to the bridge on the same day he was diagnosed with OS, a month short of his 12th birthday. Tropicana Troy (09/20/95 - 08/22/07), our first chip, will always be the Eternal Champion in the Race to our Hearts. He successfully battled LP through tieback surgery and a bout with colitis, only to succumb to the dreaded osteo. He passed away on the same day his young neighbor turned 4. Our most treasured ornament this year is one that bears his tag.
