Guest 2Brindles
Hi everyone, After dealing with Ronan's bleeding open sore near his paw all weekend, my DH took him to the vet today to see what could be done. Turns out that this sore was a tumor The vet said that it was likely benign, but he went into surgery to have it removed. Please send some healing thoughts my boy's way! Hopefully we can pick him up tonight.

Guest 2Brindles
Well Ronan is back, complete with a festive Christmas tree wrap around his paw for protection. He must be escorted out with a bootie on for the next five days and then the dressing can come off. We won't know for a week as to whether the tumor was benign or cancerous. It was a small growith, about the size of a dime. The vet believed it to be benign from his initial inspection. I'm just giving him hugs right now! Guest 2Brindles
Well today Ronan has been okay - he's not putting much weight on the bandaged paw and it has been a real chore getting him to go out and pee and poop. The vet constructed a booty to put on the bandage - really its an i.v. bag with slits cut in it for a drawstring top - and we have to put that on him when he goes out. After I brought him back in, I went upstairs to change my clothes. When I came back downstairs I realized that he snuck through the doggy door that I had left open for Molly to use. Long story short, I had to redress his wound. It doesn't need to be bandaged according to the vet, however I know he's the type of dog who cannot leave an owie alone so I chose to rewrap it. He slept through the whole procedure, which was very impressive to me. Now getting the clavamox down his throat this evening is another story altogether... Oh and thank you for all the well wishes and good thoughts. It will be a few days before the biopsy results are in, but I am pretty confident that it will turn out okay. Guest gomiesmom
Glad to hear he is doing good. Please keep us posted. Good thoughts coming your way. Regarding getting pills down him, my boy loves solid pack pumpkin, so I put an oversized spoonful in a very tiny bowl poke the pill(s) down into the pumpkin and let him lick it clean while I hold it. Guest LindsaySF
Awww poor Ronan! Glad he made it through the surgery ok, now that it's benign. Have you tried wrapping the pill in a slice of cheese? Even Teagan won't turn his nose up at cheese.

This morning I ended up hiding it in a piece of ham.
