Guest Snowy8 Posted December 9, 2007 Share Posted December 9, 2007 (edited) I'm sorry I didn't update during the day, I had to work from 6am to 10am this morning at FedEx, then go to a meet/greet at Petco, then to a family reunion...I finally got home at 5pm to some greyhounds with their legs crossed....where was the camera!!! Anyway...I called the vet this morning on my way to Petco & they said Dear's fever was gone, he ate breakfast but won't be going home until after Monday, if that soon. Since he's taking injections, I'd rather he stay there. I'm very encouraged since he's eating & his fever is gone. Thank you all so much for the prayers & support. One of the doggies at the Petco today reminded me so much of Dear...he was black, friendly, huge, and wanted to climb in my lap...so it was like I was getting a "Dear fix" while I was there. I'm fixing to go lay on the bed with Gogh Cutter Jack & Gabby & watch Santa Clause...Snowy sends slobber kisses to everyone too! After having Hurley in doggie ICU with IV antibiotics over Thanksgiving, I can totally relate. The vets kept saying "one day he will come home" and when that day comes, it is actually a welcome and sudden surprise. I hope that's how it works for sweet Dear. We chose not to visit more than twice either and once was to feed him because he didn't want their food from them. So glad it's non-cancerous!! One hurdle crossed!!! He looks so thin...but Dr. Blackburn said he hasn't lost anymore weight since they weighed him last week. He was so cute, they were trying to get him to go into the room where I was waiting & he didn't know I was there, so I said his name like I always do, Deeeeeee yyyyaaaaarrrrrrr and here he came. His eyes are so bright, but his muzzle looks more grey. He was just fixing to go in for his ultra sound, but we talked for a moment....Dr. Blackburn said he had a fever again, a low 103. His blood count was 100,000...he's not tender anywhere & for a dog with this much infection & this much fever, he should be lifeless. They did the ultra sound & the "mass" looks the same. He's scheduled for surgery in the morning to see what this is & to clean the infection out. I'm a wreck... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
