I received word late this afternoon from Cathie that Rosebud had died today. Last week on the training track, Rosebud broke her hock. It wasn't a terrible break, but the doctor felt surgery to put a pin in it was the way to go. Rosebud had the surgery today, which was uneventful, except that they couldn't wake her up. According to what I've heard from Cathie and Jenn, her clotting factors were way off. Eventually, Rosebud went into cardiac arrest and there was nothing else they could do. I feel terrible for Cathie, Bill, Chris and Jenn and everyone else who loved her and got to see her every day. I feel bad for myself and my DH who have followed her from birth and were just counting the days until we could bring her home forever. I am so thankful we got the chance to spend some time with her in March. And I will never forget the pride I felt watching her run and win her very first race. Mostly, though, my heart aches for Rosebud, who only got two short years here. I know she was very, very well loved by all her moms and dads and aunts and uncles. And I know she is charming everyone at the bridge. I am so sorry we never got the chance to bring you home, babygirl. I will love you forever.
