Guest loveagrey
Well, I'm pretty sure Chorney has lost just about all of her hearing. I have to touch her now to get her attention. We call her when she's laying right beside us and there's no reaction. I think she can hear a high pitched whistle a bit, but that's about it. Her vision still seems ok though, although not what it used to be. I feel terrible for her, living in her quiet little world. ETA: Just thought I'd post a pic of my two beautiful pups too! Guest LolasMom
I know it can be hard. My girl lost most all of her hearing at about 13 1/2. I bought a whistle while on walks (that was the only thing she seemed to be able to hear). It seemed to upset me more than it did her. Sometimes I think she enjoyed not having all the noisy ruckus (from the other fur kids) bothering her peaceful days and beauty sleeps. She lived happy and healthy until she was 15 1/2. Guest tricolorhounds
My Cecily is 13 1/2 and about 2 months ago I started to notice that she wasn't responding to voice any longer... I'm with you, it's hard to see them getting older. edited because apparently I'm not multi-tasked. Guest SYMBASMOMMY
Aww Chorney....I am so sorry.....it is so hard to see them age before our eyes....One thing though that may comfort you is that these babies are very adaptable and I believe that as long as they know we are there they feel good and safe..... Guest Tenderhearts
Chorney is one of my favorite non-greys here on GT! Toby has had significant hearing loss too. He's always been thunderphobic, and I noticed the other day with the lower rumbles of thunder, he hadn't heard them at all
Batmom
Rocco the whippet doesn't hear very well any more, either. And probably doesn't see all that well. He is 14.5. He is a lumpy bumpy little guy ... but ... I think he would tell you not to feel sorry for Chorney as long as she feels OK. A doggy doesn't have to hear or see extra well to enjoy ear rubs and tummy rubs and treats and barking at passers-by and treats and warm naps and tummy rubs and new toys and .... You get the idea. Extra scritchies to the beautiful Chorney. GeorgeofNE
Remember, Chorney more than likely relies on her sense of smell and her sight a LOT, so to HER, not hearing so well is probably not that bad. The dog my family had when I was a little girl (many, many years ago!) was stone deaf, and as happy as could be! He couldn't hear anything except my father's whistle--the kind where you stick your fingers in your mouth. But I swear, he could hear a potato chip land on the carpet ... Hugs to Chorney, she's beautiful! Quote Susan, Hamish, Mister Bigglesworth and Nikita Stanislav. Missing Ming, George, and Buck
