Eating Of Wax

I know this was probably here before but I am still very worried, so I just wanted to ask again. Last night we went out for dinner and came home to find our dog Maddie had eaten part of a candle. Yesturday she seemed to be acting fine but this morning she didn't want to get up, only ate part of her food, then threw up, and now seems especially whiney. Should I be concerned? I am using one of my sick days to stay home with her b/c I am very nervous. Any advice? Besides that I am crazy for my dog. HEHEHE

make sure you let the vet know, if possible, what kind of candle wax she ate.

I would be very worried also since the wax could become impacted. I would get her to the vet.

When I had Honey for about three months, she decided to snack on a candle while I was out. In her case, it was a plain white taper. She was fine (although it made for an interesting deposit the next morning). But if she's vomiting and not eating, I'd call the vet.

Vet. The type of candle and materials used to make it would be the determining factor in whether or not it was toxic. A plain unscented beeswax candle... most likely okay. A paraffin candle with lots of colors and fragrances... maybe not. Since she's showing obvious discomfort, I'd err on the side of caution and take her in while you have the day off.
