Guest VanillaBean
What is tie-back surgery and what is getting tied back? Seen a few posts where greys are getting them, but have no idea!
2hounds
It is for laryngeal paralysis (I know I butchered that spelling). The tie back surgery is designed to keep the larynx from getting "stuck" closed to help the hound breathe better. Guest DorianGreyhound
What causes Greys to get this condition?
sweetdogs
Laryngeal Paralysis. In general, the cause is unknown. Madeara
in the picture in the link above they tie back one side of the Arytenoid cartilage. It is customized per dog. It stays completely open all the time. When healthy when one swallows it closes to keep the food out and it opens when you breath. As you can now understand eating and breathing both become hard with paralysis.
