Guest vthounds
Hi - My name is Debbie and I am the pround grey-mom of three houndies: Katie (13), Ellie (10), and Dingo (4). Ellie was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in November, and is so far doing pretty well (fingers crossed!). We did amputation and chemotherapy, and are also doing artemisinine, other herbs/supplements, and accupuncture. When we first got the diagnosis, my boyfriend and I spent a lot of time online researching the disease, treatment options, prognoses, and personal stories - good and bad. A friend also lent me the Fall 2004 issue of Celebrating Greyhounds magazine. I am thinking that it might be nice to make someone else's life a little easier, when they hear the scary news ("your dog has cancer"), and put some of that useful information all in one place. So I'm trying to put together a booklet of cancer facts, stories, and people/places to check out. So far, I have the story I wrote about Ellie, and two articles on osteosarcoma that I got permission to use (one from Dr. Couto and one from I think Dr. Feeman?). I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has - or can point me in the direction of - additional articles. They can be about other forms of cancer, and can also deal with both traditional and non-traditional treatments (arte, for example). And a good recipe for "life-saving" meatballs, too, as I think I lost the one we originally downloaded... Please feel free to email me directly at debbie at downdogyogastudio dot com. Thank you so much. Debbie, Katie, Ellie, and Dinga-doo
DaisyDoodle
Debbie, I don't have any articles to suggest, I just want to welcome you to GT!! I love getting your e-mail updates on Ellie. It would be great if you'd post them here, in sequence, sometime. Donna (from Franklin Co.) Guest vthounds
Hi - I am collecting all of my Ellie Updates to make a little Ellie Book, in addition to the Cancer Book I am putting together. You can also read about Ellie on my friend's e-zine (Venus Rising Magazine); she published an article I wrote (http://venusrisingmagazine.com/index/VR/readers_corner_archives/). I have heard of Hope for Hounds and have been to your site. I'm trying to make my cancer book a bit more well-rounded; its mostly osteosarcoma right now. Do you know how I could get some stories/info about other forms of cancer that have afflicted greyhounds? I see a bunch of introductions on your Hope for Hounds site; do you think any of them would want to write a little something about their experiences? Thanks!
