Guest greytmonty
For anyone who has been helpful with our many questions re Monty and his medical issues, we have a happy update here. His derm vet now has him on a much lower dose of his hypo immunization shots. He is on a new antibiotic and gets an anti nausea drug prior to that med so he is still eating. He is on MEGA DOSES of Temaril P. Our feeling at this point is quality of life over quantity. Not to be morbid, but long term steroid use may effect his health, but he is suffering so badly now and this is the only thing that gives him relief! She thinks the high doses will only be for a few months. He is happy, eating, and ran all around the fenced field at Penn yesterday! Also his new food, California Naturals, which many recommended, is great. He is off that awful H/A which is so expensive and has no food in it..... Thanks everyone for listening! Guest Greensleeves
Good news! Does the dermatologist have you bathing him? I know our specialists can tend to "forget" any treatment that's not strictly medical... so if you're *not* doing the daily baths, run over to your regular vet and get some Relief shampoo ASAP, and start bathing that boy every day! The baths and the Temaril changed Flint's life. If you can minimize the allergens he's ingesting/inhaling... then you may be able to cut back on the meds, eventually. Win-win! The baths and the Temaril changed Flint's life. If you can minimize the allergens he's ingesting/inhaling... then you may be able to cut back on the meds, eventually. Win-win! We had been bathing him twice a week with oatmeal dog shampoo and a medicated shampoo, but he totally dried out! We now bathe him "as needed" (he is a 3 year old boy so that is more often than you might think) and we use the Humilac spray on moisturizer as needed. I am glad Flint does well on Temaril. What dose is he on?
