Guest greyhoundis
July 1st 2006 I received the most wonderful gift - the chance to bring home Dancer - a 14 year old with ears to die for, tiny little bundle of joy and attitude. And for 10 months and much to her chagrin I was able to bestow kisses on that cute little face. Tootie started life in 1992 at the Plainfield track as Gidgit. Adopted in 1994 and named Dancer and eventually moved to Texas and lived with 2 other greyhounds and her family for 10 years. At some point her family moved up north and left Dancer and the other 2 greyboys in a boarding facility. Two years later they were forced to release them. Thank doG Greyhounds Unlimited was there for these 3 babies. So at 14 a very kind lady brought her from Dallas to her home in Oklahoma City and I drove there and picked her up to join the Myers family. Within days she was Tootie Panties for reasons I won't disclose as I am sure she would be embarrassed. For the first few months she seem shocked when I spoke, left the room when I coughed, and overall had a real problem with a "people" in her presence. Not a spook - just not interested. Then the light went on for both of us. She had been out of touch for 2 years with the human element. All of a sudden she LIKED it! Tootie ran like a young colt in the yard - but more so when a young greyboy was in attendance. Such a little flirt. Her back end was weak I am sure from lack of activity but she LOVED the yard and would wander and wander. Sometimes falling but always getting back up. As today would have been her 15th birthday I would love to have the gift that some of you have to write a tribute to this little girl that is worthy of her life. But alas I do not have that gift. So goodbye baby girl with the big eyes and big ears - I will so miss kissing that tiny tiny tuft of hair that stuck up on the middle of your head like Spanky and miss the far and few between kisses you bestowed on me. love, mama "It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."~Unknown Carla J.
