Missing Farley So Much. 8/20/04 - 1/15-07

Our beloved Farley was put to sleep at home Monday evening. He's been challenged with nasal cancer that we discovered in the middle of the summer. He never seemed to want to end life on earth, and this made the decision utterly monstrous. Even on his last day, we went back and forth wondering if we were making the right decision. But, we know the cancer was spreading in his muzzle, gums, and that had to be painful even though he never really let us know that.

Farley was our first Greyhound and he and I were truly kindred spirits. In my opinion (and my husband's), Farley was sheer perfection and pure joy. We were so blessed the moment he came into our lives.

Now, how to go on without him. I am sleeping with his blue puppy because he loved it so much and because it smells like him. His Grey little sis, Kiki, has spent nearly all of her life with him, and we are also needing to nurture her. She is very quiet, and almost motionless. It broke my heart when I had NO greeters at the door when I got home from work last night.

I know that you all know what this is like. If there are any tips to help with the pain, I certainly need them. I miss my boy endlessly and it's about more than I can bear.

To all of you, I wish you the best in dealing with your grief too. At least we share this painful understanding of what it feels like to fully love and be loved by a Greyhound. It's been truly magical for us and I know for you as well.

Oh dear, I am so very sorry for the loss of your sweet Farley.

Yes, it is one of the most difficult things to have to deal with, but you know deep down in your heart that you did the only thing you could do for Farley, and that was to release him from his pain.

Farley will ALWAYS be with you in spirit. Soon your tears of grief will turn to tears of joy as you will have many wonderful memories of your precious boy.

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers and accept our heartfelt sincere condolences.

Godspeed Farley.

I am so sorry for your loss. It's always hard to say goodbye to a beloved friend. I know how hard that final act of love is. May your memories bring your aching heart peace.

Run free, sweet Farley.

Allyson, I am so very sorry in your loss of Farley. :grouphug Even in all the sadness in losing them, I truly feel sorry for a person who has never experienced the unconditional love of a dog. Farley will always be in your heart and at your side. :heart:paw

I am so sorry :grouphug:f_white

Sometimes it helps to keep talking (or writing) about him. Maybe you could start a thread with all your favorite pictures of him, or start a blog. :grouphug

I'm so sorry for your loss. :f_white

God speed Farley

Something that might help is putting together a scrap book of Farley photos. It will remind you of the fun times you had.

I am so sorry. The only way to deal with the pain is to walk right through it. Cry as much as you need to. There is light on the other side it just takes a while to get there.
