Guest sorenkkg
Hi All-- This list is greyt! When we lived in Mississauga ON, we went to Dr Sandi Rosely and I can attest that she and the team were terrific. We've moved since then, and are planning to get 2 new greyhounds in spring 2017-- lots of time for lots of planning. Does anyone have recommendations in the Hamilton or Niagara areas? We live in Grimsby which is in between. The main list has these the royal ford vet clinic in Oakville which is an option (35 min drive) and I found the Kingsway Animal clinic in Hamilton (not on the List yet) with a vet who is part of greyhound lovers of hamilton-wentworth.. .that's about 25 min from my house. Any recommendations welcome! TIA Soren

mrsmcd7
Arboretum View Animal Hospital 2551 Warrenville Road, Downers Grove, IL, 60515 Dr. Bonam https://vcahospitals.com/arboretum-view?utm_source=maps&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=VCA_Arboretum_View_Animal_Hospital Dr. Bonam is our main vet but Max has seen others there including Elissa Kelley an emergency vet. They seem very knowledgeable about the breed. Edited May 16, 2017 by mrsmcd7
Guest ritamarino
I suggest a shared Google document for the group so it easy to update and maintain with a tab for each state. I am happy to help set it up if someone who is an administrator contacts me.
Guest AilynMarie
Are there any recent vet recommendations in the Miami area??? I saw the most recent is Dr. Winchester about 4 years ago. The clinic is still around, but it seems he may have retired. Dr. Yao was also recommended but he is a bit out of my way. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated! On a side note: I agree with the previous poster. It would be very convenient to have access to a list that can be updated by the group. cgs
Any recommendations in Maryland in upper Montgomery County? The one listed in Germantown on page 1 here is no longer there. The website redirects to a different place further away and that vet is no longer there.

smt
Can I get recommendations for Grey savvy vets in the Nashville TN area? We are familiar with Grassmere Animal Hospital, but hoping to find a vet a little closer to us, particularly in the East Nashville, Inglewood, Madison or Goodlettsville area. Even though it's not the closest option, we go to Grassmere (not just because of Sweep, but because it's been my family's preferred vet since I was a kid), so I'm not much help, I'm afraid. Are you on Facebook? If so, you might post on the GPA Nashville and Music City Greyhound Adoption pages too. Our vet, who was pretty GH savvy, retired last year. We love the clinic, and it is literally 5 minutes down the road, so I scheduled an initial consult with Dr. Cole (at Mobley Vet Clinic) next week, to get a sense of whether or not she is GH savvy. If I don't get a confident feel after bringing up concerns around hookworms, anesthesia, osteo risk, etc., then I will likely go with Grassmere. Any other medical issues I should specifically inquire around in this initial visit? After reading a recent PLE thread, I wonder if I should probe around that, as well. Granted, this is not greyhound-specific, but my good friend who lives in Madison takes her lab mixes to Goodlettsville Animal Hopsital and likes them, but she said she hears a lot of great things about Companion Animal Hospital (also in Goodlettsville). Mobley is highly rated, so I suspect you'll be fine there. Honestly, "grey savvy" is probably less of a concern now than it used to be, but certainly make sure they're aware of greys having different lab values; you could even print and share the card below. Trust your gut though, and know that Grassmere is always an option if you want a second opinion. The Grassmere vet who owns several greys herself has retired, but the other vets are all super-knowledgeable thanks to her. Dr. Clark is my personal favorite, but you really can't go wrong. (Just know going in that it's not a fancy place--they spend their money where it counts, not on modern decor or pricey location.) The follow up the next day with specialist was equally as good. Lots of communications ever couple of hrs and respect of our financial situation. The vets worked on essentials. All records were mailed to me and my local vet. The other Denver vets on the list need to be reviewed. Some no longer had websites. One with great reviews was a first come, first serve. With a dog this sick time is of the essence. This looked like pyrometria But test results showed no infection, stellar blood work. Mystery until we get lepto test results! I'm not sure what happened with your dog, but Alemeda East used to have a cable tv program showing emergency vet situations. Since we moved, I don't have all of the same stations as we did in NJ. I used to watch it all the time. How is your dog now? SGE1967
If we're okay to recommend vets outside of North America? Churchfield Vets 29 Sackville Street Barnsley S70 2DB United Kingdom 01226 733 333 Website Dr Keith Bellringer spayed our girl and gave us lots of information about the process and the differences between greyhounds and other breeds. He does a lot of work for Barnsley and District Animal Welfare, which finds homes for both greyhounds and far less interesting dogs, and he knows the breed well.
