Guest IndysDad
Well Hammie, it's hard to believe that you've been at the Bridge for 2 years today..it feels like just yesterday you were still here. The hurt of your leaving has begun to heal...I remember how sad you were when your sister Evelyn went to the Bridge before you; I wasn't sure if you would ever recover from that..but when we adopted Indy, you started to live again, it was like having 2 old bachelors around. Both of you loved to go for rides together and go *Poodle-cruising*..it was hilaroius to watch you 2 look at the other dogs walking along the sidewalks..I could almost hear the wolf whistles when you spotted a cute girlie girl!! I remember how happy you were when Zadie came to live with us; it was a shot in the arm for both you and Indy!!! A girl of your own to exchange P-mail with!! Woo Hoo!!! I'd like to thank you (and Evelyn) for sending Tiger to us a year ago. Did you know it was 1 year ago his picture popped up on our local groups website? Of course you did !! You sent him to us because he was 10 years old and getting bounced out of his home tp be replaced by a Lab puppy..you're such a scoundrel!! I see so much of you in Tiger; the *life is a bowl of cherries* attitude. the constantly happy tail, the way both of you hog the bed..the look that says I'll always be with you, no matter what... Oh, and Evelyn contributed just the slightest bit of *velcro* to make sure I didn't have to go to the bathroom alone..gets a little crowded in there!! I know you and your sister have been visiting us; I've seen both of you from the corner of my eye...I've seen you leave the guest bedroom and walk down the hall; I'll go into the guest room and there will be a pair of warm spots on the bed...just where you would lay...how do I know it's you??? Simple..the guest room door is always closed , no one goes in there but your Mom and I... You were such a good and gracious host to all of the Grey fosters that came through your home, whether it was for a few hours while they were waiting to go to their forever home or months, while they were waiting for their forever family to find them..it seems like your presence would calm the nervous ones and and give the rest a bit of confidence...for that, I thank you. I know you're doing well at the Bridge, you're no longer old or ill, I'm sure you're looking after the rest of your littermates and have made friends with many Gray and Grey dogs; I'm sure you will be there to welcome Indy,Zadie and Tger when their time comes to wait at the Bridge, till then, rest well my friend, you will always be in our hearts...
