She was the one who started up the petsitting service after retiring. She has two goldens, Otis and Abby, and two young labs, Ringo and Moses. We were talking about all of our dogs and how everyone was doing. She mentioned she was going to have to take Otis in for a recheck on his thyroid meds (both goldens are on thyroid meds), and was getting the dogs fed as we were talking. I heard her trying to coax Otis to eat, and she grew increasingly worried as he never goes off of feed. The last thing she said to me was she needed to get off the phone right away as something was wrong with Otis. Otis passed away last night. The diagnosis was hemangiosarcoma. My heart is just breaking for her. He was the love of her life, a certified therapy dog, and a sweet gentle big golden boy. Run free, sweet Otis, and please help your mommy's broken heart heal.
