IAMs Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 (edited) I just wanted to let everyone know that Lary Hess, a true lover of animals, passed away recently. I met Lary this past summer while taking Maya (our only grey at the time) to the dog park during the cool mornings. Lary and a group of others (myself included) sat and visited from about 6:00am until 12:00pm. This was an almost daily activity. After a member of the group moved to Mexico in August, the group somewhat dissolved, and each was only seen in passing at the park. While it was nice to see each other and visit, it was never like the group that got together so regularly as we did in the summer. Kudzu, Lary's dog, helped Maya to break out of her shell. Maya would play with my wife and I, but she never really knew what to do around other dogs. With Kudzu's help (as well as Stefano... a grey/bulldog mix), Maya learned that it was okay to play-bite other dogs, okay to bark, and okay to chase (and be chased). All the while, Lary and I (as well as the rest of the group) looked on with smiles on our faces. We were enjoying one of the most beautiful sites: dogs having fun. On Saturday, November 19th, Lary passed away after suffering multiple seizures. Kudzu will be going to stay with his sister in Georgia. It is the right thing to do, as Kudzu's sister will be there, as well. Larry will be missed... but not forgotten.
