Nine-year-old Sheba has really been shedding a lot lately, and I mean a lot. Is blowing her coat normal this time of year even though we're in Florida and had no winter to speak of? I seem to remember it happening about this time last year so perhaps it is normal. She's her usual self, eats great, and nothing seems out of the norm other than the shedding. I'm using the Furminator on her to help reduce the shedding. Vacuuming the floors frequently, too. Your thoughts and opinions please.

Porsche has been with me for right at 2 months and has been very easy going and for the most part trouble free. About 3 weeks in, however, she started shedding like crazy. This was not an issue when she first arrived at my home and was not a problem for the 5 weeks she was with her foster home either. Now she loses as much hair as a friend's yellow Lab when I brush her down! I tried fish oil capsules for about 3 weeks with no results and have since switched to coconut oil added to every meal with little to no improvement noted. I expected my purebred borzoi to shed in the Spring, but he nearly looks like he was shaved! (He wasn't.) Fintan is 8 months old and during the shed he lost a voluminous amount of fur and all the curls and waviness are gone. He just has one small patch of puppy fur left on his back, and his tail & rump fur seems not to have shed. I am embarrassed to ask, but is this normal? My borzoi-saluki cross did not have this happen as a puppy so thus my confusion. I just am left wondering if there's a medical reason that I should have him checked for, like a thyroid issue.
