  1. I’ve kept up with shoveling this long side of the campers track with all of our previous storms. Not this time. Maybe I’ll do a foot at a time. Or wate til Spring The other three sides are finished. Again. For now. Until the wind blows it all back. Two+ feet of powder so it’s easy to move, but even my shovel cried Uncle The campers thoughts at the moment on all of this. (They actually have been enjoying the snow )
  2. A couple of weeks ago, Punkin had surgery to remove a mass from her shoulder. The mass looked so much like a simple lipoma and we were all shocked when the pathology came back as a Gr. 2 soft tissue sarcoma, not the worst but still, not good. Our doc got extremely good margins but apparently didn't get everything. For now, we wait and watch for any regrowth. Today, Punkin had her sutures removed and the site looks fantastic. She was such a good little patient during recovery, never needing a cone or donut (around her neck anyhoo!) and she is feeling really well. The campers travel together and today of course AnnIE came with, which was a blessing so that we could discuss her incident of yesterday, a focal seizure. She hasn't had any *that I've seen* since 2018 2020! and those were much more intense and violent. I caught yesterdays episode, just shy of three minutes, on video and sent it right away to the clinic. AnnIE was tired for a good part of the day but today she is totally herownself. These events are so random, there's nothing to do at this point other than to watch and make notes of any future occurrences, and keep visiting the LieBerry to read with the kidlets. So, nothing to see here. Phew.
  3. Better! It’s Punkin, who had a really good day on the trail. She is our hike leader and was on her game, there were soo many good sniffs and she was delighted to root out a nest of some sort (we booked out of there ). Snow face as evidence of a really good day for Punkin
  4. When it’s 19 deg *F* and windy, like today, going for a R I DE is the camper activity highlight of the day. We drove past our naybors, who don’t seem to be too concerned with the weather. It’s hard to see from that pic but there are babies hiding behind their mommas
  5. Punkin's follow-up with a first-catch urine sample showed persistent bacteria. The clinic sent me the lab results which don't seem comprehensive but Ii they were simply checking just for blood/bacteria could that explain the lack of values? Before starting Punkin on another course of abx, they want to do a cystocentesis to be sure that we are on the right track as to the specific bacteria she has. I understand that they'll use an ultrasound to guide the needle to the bladder. What else do I need to know/ask?: How painful is it? How often does infection occur at the site? If Punkin is cooperative, will she need to be anesthetized? Since her previous, first dose of abx there have not been any accidents in the house and I haven't seen any blood. I don't believe she is going more frequently nor drinking excessive amounts of water, although she drinks quite a bit and is a dog who is typically warm - are these related? I've been attributing some of her panting to pain that we are trying to address but could it also be that she is warm? Her temp is normal. I am on the fence about the cystocentesis but will do it if we need to. I may also ask for another full blood panel, I know that we ran something prior to her recent dental but can't recall how comprehensive it was. Thank you for any thoughts. Update 9/20/23: Punkin was seen this morning for bloodwork and her cystocentesis. It took longer for us to make the appt, get ready, drive to the clinic then wait for our doc than the procedure itself took (5’ !). The culture results should be back in about a week. AnnIE, helpful and supportive as usual Our (very pregnant) tech was loving on AnnIE and asked what is her name. When I told her Ann-I-E, she looked up slowly and said “Whaaattt??” Update 9/22: All Normal
  6. It's usually not something you would be doing cartwheels over. Except, how otherwise would you know that she's peeing blood clots We have an appointment this afternoon, with a first-catch containing pee and clots. Good thoughts appreciated for Punkin.
  7. I have no idea what this is. She wants the likky matt but isn’t giving up her spot to get it?
  8. Punkin, almost 12 yo, recently had a full set of x-rays under sedation and it took her about a week to recover from that (diarrhea, some inappetance), but then she had a really good almost two weeks - leading hikes per usual and eating everything I put in front of her. But lately she is having more of these types of days - waking with belly gurgles and delaying breakfast until brunch. She's already getting several smaller meals throughout the day with her last meal close to bedtime; meds are Famotidine, Slippery Elm and Tylan, along with Gabapentin and a half-dose of Galliprant. This morning it was belly gurgles and refusing everything I offered. She wanted grass and without any teeth it's impossible for her to manage so I snip tiny pieces from the area she's chosen and let her lap that up (sigh). She still wouldn't eat. Then I remembered the Entyce in our pantry and decided to try that. I have to say it's been like a miracle drug - within 30-45 min the girl is looking for noms and is ravenous. Today was the second time we've tried it and the results were the same. She eats and becomes the bright, bouncy camper that she is and after the previous episode this lasted until today, about eight days. Entyce is by prescription, the best price I've found is from Chewy.
  9. The quietest greyhound chatter evah AnnIE’s groan at the end woke up the Punk
  10. We left our Tiny Town and drove to the Bigger Town a few over for errands and so that AnnIE could get her fix of doing what she does what labeled her "AnnIE" Punkin was in full-on message checking and replying mode which she loves. AnnIE, per "normal," was on the alert for passersby. She spotted several today and all was rite in her whirled. Then came along another one, who called out "They're beautiful!" Would you like to pet them? "Really?" Wait for it. "I have a cat." (Wate. Wot??) With you? <-- I could knot stop
  11. Number Four Campers AnnIE & Punkin, One “P” Thank goodness greyhounds for these girls
  12. Annie Oooh m was in her usual stalking mode, looking for someone, anyone she could either convince to stop and pet her or simply insert herself into their life for same. A woman approached, kept walking and Annie kept up with her method and the woman eventually stopped, saying she was in a hurry but “You’re right Annie, you should stop and smell the roses, and look at these beautiful flowers right here.” Annie was in heaven! She then loved on Punkin and said that Punk made her think of a brownie. Wot?? “You know, a blonde brownie.” That was a first for us in all our years of brindles Here is said brindle brownie

  14. It has been one year since the three girls lost their dad and needed a new address, together. Matriarch Dottie B was 11.7, Punkin was 6 (turning 7 shortly), and young'un Annie only 5 (turning 6 shortly thereafter). But they were a bonded trio and I offered our camp. On 09/16/18 Michael, bless his heart in the good way, delivered three new campers which brought our roster to six. A camp of oldies - how did those two young'uns sneak in here I'd previously failed at six and our sweet Dottie B was here only five weeks before we lost her, fail no. 2. So here we are, one year later on the girls' first Gotcha Day. Happy One Year Gotcha to Punkin and Annie We celebrated with whippy cream and a walk at dusk to Seamie's Lane, where his coyote was singing Punkin, now 7 going on 8 and Annie now 6 going on 7 are *almost* the age to apply for camp membership They are the best girls, so full of love and joy. They tag each other as Aiden and Paddy Mayhem did and Annie channels Paddy in soo many ways lol. Love these campers!
