  1. This is an update from my first post here. River (10) had her broken toe amputated. She just had her stitches and bandaid removed last weekend and she did excellent! She has been her normal happy self but we noticed she is rather stiff, usually whenever she gets up from a relaxed position or after a long nap. I feel like she wasn't always the best at balance because of how old she is and I'm sure at her age after racing until she was 8 she has stiff and sore aches in her joints, and now she has a missing toe on top of that after 10 years of life. What are some things we could do to help her relax? She deserves to be happy and healthy. I don't want to touch her paw until she is more adjusted, it's only been a total of three weeks I believe from the entire ordeal. Any suggestions? Any advice from experience from people who have had amputatee greyhounds and or other animals? Thank you!
  2. I don't know how to ask this. I have a female grey and she's my first female dog ever. She has a really different odor. Is it because she's a girl and the odor is coming from her *ahem* girl bits? For comparison, my male grey could go four or five weeks before I'd notice even a faint odor. She starts smelling weird after about 10 days and by day 20 it's strong enough that I insist on washing her. And her beds smell that way too. It's a somewhat funky smell. I don't know how to describe it. Like, not REALLY bad but not a nice clean smell like my male had. And it's sort of generally all over her body. And by day 20 it's just really STRONG. Like when one walks into a department store and the perfume department is just overwhelming. Should I be worried? I'm taking her to the vet for her annual visit soon, should I not wash her beforehand so the vet can check it? Am I just freaking out? I never noticed this while my male was alive (he died in August) but I think maybe it's because she gets more attention from me now. She's not licking excessively. Maybe I'm going crazy but I thought I'd ask just in case.
  3. Hey Guys I am a first time greyhound parent and we're about to have our 19 month old female spayed - I cannot tell you how nervous I am Our little miss is still a little anxious and nervous in certain situations so I know this will be difficult process for her. I've been doing bits of reading and there have been the standard pieces of information floating around. However I was hoping for some information on what to expect with a greyhound (as I know they are super big sooks) and any tips/tricks you may have from when you've had your girls spayed. So many thanks in advance xx

    Juno's Here!

We have gotten our first foster greyhound Juno and we are already in love with her. She settled right in on the first night and has become extremely affectionate within the first 2 days. The poor girl had a broken left hock which is what ended her racing career, but we're slowly walking her on leash and she's showing a lot of progress. I'm not sure we'll be able to give her up when someone inevitably wants to adopt her >.>
