  1. Billy Bob (left) and Shazam, photographed together during my recent trip to MN.
  2. A little tardy about sharing this, but we adopted another greyhound to keep The Bean company. May I introduce to you Billy Bob, the sixth greyhound to grace our household: He's four-and-a-half years old. We'd never before adopted a dog with such a distinguished career: youngest member of the 2012 All-American Team winner of the 2012 $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity in Palm Beach finalist in the He's My Man Classic ran the 545-yd course at PBKC in 29.15 secs (third-fastest time ever) won 10 starts in a row at Naples He started his career at PBKC, and also ran at Naples, Mardi Gras, Dubuque (now Iowa Greyhound Park), and Bluffs Run. His last race was in August, 2014. Though born a cryptorchid, he may become a daddy next year if everything works out. He's very sweet, sensitive, eager to go on walks and car rides, easily correctable, and has the best sad-puppy eyes. Though he tends to be content with playing with toys by himself and hasn't shown much interest in playing with Bean yet (maybe it'll come with time), I think she's glad to have a companion.
