  1. Just wanted to say this as Walliered did Time Leave her alone-- no training, just walking to let her potty, and IF she wants to walk, then walk more... give her time to know this is home and safe. So let her be in her crate... don't hug her... just BE with her and let her get confidence that this situation will stay. This could take months, not days But I think she just needs quiet time
  2. Makes me smile to think of him chattering away in happiness!
  3. "I am terrified of getting back home from my trip and facing a house and life without her." this is going to be bad I am so sorry many prayers for you in this grief and loss
  4. Oh no So much loss in your pack over these last few years... I know it goes with having a large family, but does not make it somehow easier. Sweet Pistol... so sorry for this loss
  5. oh I am so sorry Her face has brought me joy over the years you have shared your hounds' photos Many prayers for you through this grief and loss
  6. oh wow-- I am so sorry many prayers for you during this grief and loss
  7. I'm going to 2nd or 3rd the opinion to allow Magic to not have to interact with guests at all for a while. Our boy Kingsley was not aggressive toward new-comers, but definitely nervous as he would stand in another room and peer around the corner. While it does sound like Magic is happy to greet people, maybe just giving him time to feel fully comfortable in his new home will take this stress away for him. You're doing great!
  8. What a beautiful old man... so sorry for this grief and loss
  9. Oh no so sorry for this grief and loss

  11. What a beautiful girl.. thank you for sharing and many prayers for you
  12. So they have been setting it up for the dog to steal things out of the "baby's" areas? If anything, they need to get the dog accustomed to all these new things and know that they are Not His. We ended up having to remove stuffed-animal like dog toys from the house so that the dogs could have rubbery toys while the baby's soft-toys were not to be touched. We had a very easy transition to having a baby and were very good at still giving he dogs attention and not shoving them away, but inviting them in to sniff etc.
  13. Our boy Kingsley took YEARS to get over his walking issues, and in some ways, his fears never completely went away. Over the first year we learned when we could push him a bit, and when it was best to just stay within 2-houses of home. He always liked routine, so even after getting a second dog, he still had one route that he was willing to walk. I would not think after 6 weeks that you should consider drugs. you know what pushed him over-the-edge (like the noise from the weed-wacker at the park or the fire-work) and he needs to recover from that and know that you can provide him with the safety and comfort he needs. Kingsley would have been more-hesitant after such an event for days... he fell in the kitchen once and did not go back in there for 6 months! Good luck-- Patience and Time!
  14. We gave it to our dogs from the time we adopted them at 5 and 2 years old... so start now!
  15. Thanks for this info, as it brings me peace to know she and her hounds were taken care of, and ready. Many prayers to her family
  16. Ruby just had a similar infection, and we were to apply the slave/ointment before taking her out to help "ease the burn" as she would tinkle. I found applying it with a q-tip worked better than my finger, so that I made sure the medicine was really in the crevices, so to speak. Hope your girl heals smoothly
  17. So he normally sleeps downstairs, in his crate. One night he slept in your room, not in his crate 2nd night he was restless in your room, without crate 3rd night tried to put him in crate downstairs and he fussed but was content back in your room. What about putting his crate in your BR... might that be all the components together... he's with his pack, and in his crate, which he seems to enjoy?
  18. Our Ruby has that reaction to the Frontline So we have stopped using a topical flea/tick preventor. So could it be the Frontline and not the Heartguard? Or the combo? maybe dose one one week and another the following, or 2 weeks later?
  19. Thankful to hear of the peaceful passing... what a gift to be at home on his bed with his pillow and you. Beautiful photo you shared, a happy life prayers for you
  20. So sorry for this grief at the loss of that beautiful old girl

  22. Our Ruby wanted to keep her eyes closed since last night. This morning as I made her breakfast and she ran into the kitchen, looked and me and then the food and then stood there with her eyes closed, I knew something was wrong. So, did a search here, found at least 2 dogs with the same symptoms Husband took her to the vet, diagnosed as uveitis, eye drops prescribed, and one we go. thank you SO much for being here to find answers, share joys and sorrows
