  1. Ducky, Dingo was on a teaspoon of Metamucil for most of her 15 years. Cured all of her digestive issues. We tried to give her the unflavored one but it got harder and harder to find. Good luck!
  2. I have a grey who is now 13.5 years old and two and 1/2 years ago she had a reaction to her vaccines even though they were given at three year intervals. She ran a fever, was lethargic and did not want to eat for about four days. The vet confirmed it probably was a reaction to the vaccines. She did recover without any problems but it was a scary experience. We do not give vaccines (other than rabies, because of state law) to any of our greyhounds over the age of six as a result of that situation.
  3. One of the survivors is my sweet heart hound, Emma. She is now 8.5 and is living a life of luxury. She is so very special and is loved by all who meet her. She will be going to Mountain Hounds this week with me. I pray that the horrible condition in that awful place in Orange County, NC will never happend again. I hope someone is monitoring Wiseman because it would be too easy for her and her husband to have more dogs and repeat their crimes.
  4. Oh my gosh, Lori, I just saw this thread. I am so sorry this happened to Bill but I am happy that he is recovering quickly. I am sending you a pm.
  5. Just prayed and will continue to do so. I am so sorry your are going through this.

    Keeper

I am so very sorry ----- what a sweet tribute to Keeper.
  10. Alisha, we have a greyhound recently diagnosised with an autoimmune disease and is on prednisone treatment. She is a GFNC dog and is being treated by the kennel vet (Lawndale). Please pm me if you would like to compare notes. I also know of a few websites that have information that could be of help to you. I am so sorry to hear that Mia had a set back.
  11. I agree with Greytlady 94 that food allergy could be the problem. When we eliminated all wheat products from our grey's diet (including treats) her colitis came under control. If you change the food, it needs to be done slowly----any change would upset our grey's intestines with undesirable results unless it was very slowly introduced. Once in awhile she would need a two week dose of Flagyl to calm things down. Since eliminating the wheat she has been doing greyt for 4-5 years.
  12. It is wonderful to hear that Mia is home. I hope you both sleep well tonight. Praying for a speedy and complete recovery!
  13. Alisha, I am thinking about you and Mia and hoping you will have good news when you give an update.
  14. I too have been thinking about the Orange County dogs that have gone on to the bridge. Each dog from that horrible place have had the most remarkable spirits. We were lucky enough to adopt Tang, a tiny little brindle girl that is a delight and joy to us. Christina, thank you and Triangle Greys for all you did to get the greys out of that awful place. I pray every day that she will not get her hands on another grey or any other animal.
  15. How is he doing today? Hope he is feeling better.
  16. We have a grey with LSS who will be 15 in June. He has been living comfortably with LSS for 3 years now. His health is good other than the LSS. His has received Depo Medrol when needed but takes oral prednisone as well. Until the last few months he has been able to walk easily on level surfaces and even come up the three steps to our house. Old age is beginning to really take a toll on him and we now have to lift him up the front stairs and into the house. His appetite has never wavered nor his need to be in the same room with us. Unfortunately he is becoming more and more feeble everyday but I suspect his age has a lot to do with this. We are home during the day and can take him out every few hours so he can do his "business". It is very much like looking after a geriatric human and is very time consuming. But he is our first grey, we love him so much, and as long as he is happy and pain free we will continue to schedule around his needs. We have a wonderful grey savy vet and I am sure that has helped him live pain free this long. Feel free to PM if you would like to talk.
  17. I am so sorry for your loss. Please do not be hard on yourself. You are in my prayers for your hearts to heal and to find peace.
