  1. Well today is day three. He is doing so well. no licking, he is eating well and starting to play a little. (Well he is not the wild-child....never has been ) He is back to following me where ever I go..wanting snacks..Just being my boy... Thank you all. The light and payers worked..!!
  2. Thanks everyone. he is really doing remarkably well. He is eating and drinking well. All things are working that I can tell. He is a little depressed, punky?. But I think I would be too.
  3. I am so sorry. This crap just never ends...
  4. Here are the pictures of my Nosers sutchers:: One of the tumors left on chest: Back left leg: Poor Baby..lets me mess with him....I love him so much!!
  5. Thank you all. I sit here and look for comfort in all the kind words. A few of you I know from way back..I am feeling lonley and scared today. So all these posts do help.....
  6. [/size]Thank you all so very much. Domino and I are home. Been a bit of a rough afternoon trying to keep the rest of the crew, leave him alone. They all want to his stiches and make it better for him. He just lays there and lets them. So we have been making covers for him. Cut off sweats, the **spawns** PJs, the spawn is the grandbaby... I just have to come to grips that all we did was buy him some time. He has two more on his chest but they had such a hard time with the one on his penis, the whole sheath was cut off and scraped and is sewn back on... , anyway, that took so much longer than he thought, he didn't want to keep him under any longer. So we will wait and see with the ones on his chest. I thank you all so much. It has been the worst year of my life I think......
  7. Domino is in surgery as I type this. He has what I think the vet called synovial sarcoma. He had a lump that got a lot bigger, about the size of the grandbabys fist. The vet found about 6 more pea sized one's on the same leg. He also has a pretty good size one on his sheath (I guess, the outer skin on the penis). I will get him in a few hours..... Anything will help....I am just so scared........
  8. Cosmo also has VF. He has been on his meds for a little over 2 years. He had a very high count at first...1:64. He has come down each year. The next test was 1:32 and then 1:25 and I think she said that he is at 1:16 now. He will probably never be "cured" and will be on pills for the rest of his life. But it is not the death sentence that it was a just few years ago. Theresa is right on the money when she said listed the states that you can find VF. Just driving thru during a little dust storm and you can get the spore. DR Susan Stack in Yuma, AZ has done a lot of research about VF and has a great little web site. Greyt health look under Coccidiodomycosis Cosmo gets his meds from Road Runner Pharmacy (Phoenix). He gets 90 pills (fluconazole 200 mg 2x a day) for about $46.00 and he gets a new toy in each box. The only thing with Cosmo was that he got SO THIN. My big 80ish pound boy got all the way down to 65#. With in a week of the meds and the satin balls he put on 5#. He is a normal active goofy boy. Love him to pieces. Good Luck. Remember that it is not a death sentence anymore.
  9. HI Congrats! Jiggy looks like just a pup yet. How old is he?
  10. My vet and I have already had this discussion. I will get Angel the Rabies and booster this year...(she will be 10). From there once a year when she has her bi-annual blood work...it was advised we run he titters(sp) and see what that shows. A normal healthy older dog, should not have any problems, but she understands my fear of over vaccinating in the older set. Either way, research and decide what works for you...Not your vet, but you and Zippy.
  11. I can't thank you all enough for the support for Ben and myself. All the PM's and the thoughts and prayers have done wonders. After the first night I think I really felt deep down that all would be ok..but you get to scared to "go there". He is doing wonderfully! I think his collar bone is broken, but as of right now I think we might just leave it. His pain level is not bad at all (he has been wanting to play with the other dogs..he has been so lonely. We still don't know what happened. I wish I knew: so I could protect them all a little better. But he is ALIVE AND WELL!! Thanks to you all!!
  12. Quick up date. Benny is better. Cough is better. I am still so worried. Prayers are still needed. We need the collar bone to be ok. NOT BROKEN. He does use it a little, but I am not sure if he would if it were broken. Thanks guys. All appreciated!!
  13. We truly think a coyote got Jac-Fooy. We found places in the fencing where it was pushed in toward the yard. Large hole and the bottom bent up. I just can't see it as one of the greys. There is no way that they could pick him up and fling him arould and not leave bite marks. Mine are just not that gentle. I know from experience with the bunnys.
  14. Great horned owl- about the largest hunter/killer of the skies you'll find in this neck of the woods. Most hawks would be almost as bad in terms of claw marks, although they can't lift as much (pound per pound) as an owl. And if it was a big cat from out here, you'd be lucky to have anything left to identify your dog. With the tiny marks that is why we are so confused. I would have thought a grey at first...but no "bites"....That really only leaves a bird of some sort...hey......what about a ferral cat? (house cat?)
  15. Aj..GHO? is that an owl? There are the tiny punctures on the right side. What about a bob cat??? We also have those huge ** I think they are called Turkey Hawks??**
  16. ok..I totally agree with the "prime the pump". I made a cheese cake and he just loved the filling. That was first. I then was crushing the pills and he totally could taste it. So they have to taste REALLY BAD. I went thru the pantry, was looking for tuna. Found Vienna sasuage. No idea where they came from. But anyway...I took one out of the can and gave it to him. Left it whole so he didn't think I was trying to hide something on him. He is licking it. Maybe......... he ate it. The whole thing. He is only 3# so the one sasuage is good. Maybe I will leave him another one in there for him to snack on. I am still heartbroken. I really need to know so I can try to protect him so it does not happen again....... I really hate this..........
  17. Well he is still resting...and letting me know when he had to potty and poop. But I am having a heck of a time getting him to eat anything. I am begining to wonder if there is some mouth/tooth damage also. Any ideas of something he can eat? I have tried his favorite wet dog food...chicken soup, cheese spread.. One of those pills must taste horrid. No matter how I try to hide....he freaks and spits out. Still no idea of what happened. I am thinking an owl? Maybe tried to get him and the other dogs startled the owl and he was dropped? I just don't see how the Greys could have done this with out a puncture would or something. He was either dropped or shook really hard. The itty bitty wounds he does have...a grey is to big to make those tiny marks. They have to be claw marks of some sort..............
  18. I am not sure that I have ever really asked for REAL prayers for any of my dogs. Well, there was Jac-Fooy. Benny Ben Ben is really sick. We don't know what happened. My Vet can't even really tell. The Vet has given him less than a 50-50 chance. He is here with me. I just couldn't leave him in a crate with nobody there for him. We don't have a 24 hour vet with on site care here..... I have just been holding him all day so he can hear my heart and smell me ..... Any and all prayers and candles thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Don't worry. He is not contagious. I would not do that to the other dogs. I will update as I can here in this post. **Also please forgive my spellings...I can't correct.. It loses the whole post.......this is my last attempt...... I can't think..I can't hurt anymore...I just want to give up.................nothing has been right for 6 months..... ******UPDATE AUG 18******** Ben is doing better. I still have no idea what happened. I will try to tell the story, but it is full of holes. I got home from work a little early. My emotional stability has been off kilter for a while and I just could'nt deal with people anymore..so I took a few hours off. I got home around 12:30 - 12:45 am (Monday) I put the 5 pups out "back" to the pond area. They love the grass and such so the bassets and Max, Precious, and Ben go out there. The greys are "locked out back" until they all settle down. The "boys" are sleeping so I want all the dogs to be a little calm and quiet. I take off my makeup-make lunches for the "boys" and change..etc. This all takes about 45 minutes. TOPS **Boys = my son, his best friend and the grandson. My son moved in when DH moved to CA he helps a lot with $$ and manual labor ** I then let all the dogs back in and they get their nightly pill/treat. (Angel and 'Mo get the pills 2x a day) so all get treats. Anyway, it is now about 2:30 am 'ish. I am in my room watching TV and on computer. I am about 13 ft from the back door where the dogs go in and out. The dogs are barking and just making general noise...but then Pickles comes in totally freaked out...a totally different bark and you could tell she is scared ****less. *Pickles is son's basset** So I go out and see what the he77 is going on. All the greys are running to the north fence line. The 3 littles are around Ben...who I truly thought was dead...he is motionliss on his right side, covered in stick,,dirt,,mouth open..tongue out.. I lose it. I I can't even bring myself to pick him up. I got plasic bags, and then I realise that he is still breathing. **I truly don't think that I have EVER lost it like that in my life: rather embarissing when you think about it. I am the strong one that keeps it together until the end..then when everything is done..I lose it.. ** I go and wake my son, he can tell rightaway that something is truly wrong. I tell him, Ben is taking his final breaths and he needs to "put him out of his misery for me ** He goes outside and comes back in....by then DS BFF comes and finds me totally hysterical, and Joe tells him he can't do it...I then make up my mind and I HAVE TO DO IT. I can't let my little guy suffer like that. I had already told Ben to go ahead and "go" it was ok..I can't do it....(earlier when I had first found him) So I go out and am totally crying....I moan a "ahhhhh..my Benny Ben Ben.....and he LIFTS HIS HEAD AND LOOKS AT ME!! OMG.....OMFG.... I pick him up a gently as I can and carry him to the kitchen sink. **as he licks tears off my face** I spray him down...there is no blood, I just can't figure it out. I keep him in his crate...not sure what to do...we don't really have an E-vet here..so I call to see what time my vet opens. 7am. So I just keep him on my chest..so he breaths easier... I get to the vet and tell them it is sort-of and emergency. **No blood and guts ya know?** So they take me right back...get my DR and she takes him back to do x-rays. His whole right side is kinda smashed. 4 broken ribs, collapsed lung, fluid of some sort..in around lungs, maybe blood in the stomach..maybe right shoulder fracture at the "collar bone". BUT THERE IN NOT A LARGE ENOUGH PUNCTURE WOUND, for a dog to have played with him like a stuffy...Vet feels that the trauma would have something on BOTH sides if "run over by the greyhound bus". There are a few itty bitty wounds...puncture like on the right side. SO WHAT THE HE77 HAPPENED? My DD and her BF think a Bob cat was in the yard...and Ben went up to it and it swiped it..and the greys then went nuts chasing the bob cat. We fashioned a snuggie for a baby and he rode around in at my belly and boobs LOL yesterday. Be breaths much easier. He tells me when he has to poop and potty. He is on REST. Today, I have hope he is going to make it!! Thank you all for prayers. They are WORKING!!! also if you have any ideas...let me know....
  19. I agree. Especially on the foot. There is not much they can do for the pads. Cosmo had a huge hole in the foot. Took him to the vet. Wasted time and money. I used neosporin and the paper tape that you get a walmart or such. Taped the sock on and he did wonderful. Tha paper tape sticks to the hair, yet does not stick when taking off. GREAT STUFF!!
