  1. I have been taking Nessa to the puppy classses at PetCo and have been very happy with them. It is always going to depend upon the specific trainer leading the class but we have had good luck. We started when Nessa was about 10 weeks old because I really wanted her to be well socialized. As someone else said, the physical set up is not ideal but I just want to learn the obedience techniques to work with her at home. I had looked into another obedience trainer but the price was much higher ($150) and there wasn't any puppy play time. Also I would have to wait several weeks for the class to start and I didn't want to wait.
  2. I am so sorry that you did not have more time with your baby.
  3. I am so sorry you did not have more time with your precious girl. I know you did everything possible for her.
  4. I'm sorry to hear that Pearl is not feeling better. When Fiona was in the final stages of cancer we found that chicken livers or gizzards were a particular favorite when cooked in a frying pan with some water and garlic. I also cooked up a pork shoulder in the crock pot with some water then added pasta. Hot dogs were oftenr a popular meal for her and she liked vanilla pudding snack packs.

    My Sweet Jazz

I am so sorry. It was always evident how much you loved him.
  8. Oh no. I'm sorry it wasn't better news. I have been on that roller coaster; give your girl an extra hug from our house.
  9. I'm so sorry you lost your beautiful girl.
  10. I would suspect the anal glands. Fiona had a problem with a ruptured gland and the symptom was blood at the rectum. Personally, I could never get the hang of expressing the glands myself; some groomers will do it if you don't want to incur a vet visit cost.
  11. Fiona had Lymphoma and I chose not to do chemo. Instead she was on Prednesone and Leukeran on alternating days. We had good results in that the combination certainly seemed to slow the progression of the cancer. I had her for five and a half months post diagnosis. I didn't really see any symptoms that could be attributed to the Leukeran.
  12. Great news that the chemo can start. She sure seemed happy when I saw her on Friday.

    So Long Kees

Oh, I'm so sorry you lost him so soon.
  15. And for any of the naysayers out there that think I done wrong by doing this to a 12 yr old.....how old did she look to you? She doesn't look much older than my Fiona did at 9 yrs.
  16. She looked really good when I saw her on Monday. She even surprised her Mom by coming to the front door to meet me. Then she shocked her Mom by coming out to the back yard down her ramp. She is full of spunk so I'm sure she will continue to do well.

    Gunda

I am so sorry. I always enjoyed your posts about your beautiful girl.
  20. When Fiona was failing from the cancer I wondered if I would know when it was time. I had never lost a dog before and I was concerned that I would let her go on too long. We let her eat whatever she wanted; some days it was hot dogs and vanilla pudding. That was OK. She lost weight and started spending most evenings on her bed out on the deck. She wasn't in pain and seemed happy, if tired. The last day I just knew it was time to let her go. I can't explain it except that I had a sinking feeling in my stomach that I had not felt during the previous 5 months we fought the cancer.
  21. I am so sorry for the loss of your special boy.
