I am worried that a scan would not find the chip. I suppose a second chip could not hurt.

I had Nessa microchipped 4 months ago at the PetCo Love My Pet clinic.The chip was placed between her shoulder blades and they scanned right then to make sure it was OK. Tonight she was in my lap and I can feel the chip has moved to down near the front of her shoulder. Is this something I should worry about? Should we go see our regular vet?

Sammie the Mut did the same thing. The first few years she I had her she didn't mind thunder but it seemed that once we moved our of our condo into a house she started having thunderphobia. I though maybe the condo had better sound proofing. Now she is at least 13 years old and seems to have lost most of her hearing so she just sleeps through the storms.

Last year on April 1, 2009 my princess Fiona was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I lost her on September 16, 2009. Last week we noticed Andy had swollen lymph nodes under his jaw. We kept thinking it had to be an absessed tooth causing a reaction. It just wasn't possible to have a second Lymphoma diagnosis in slightly over a year. The lab results came back on Friday. Our big gentle boy has Lymphoma. We will be using the same drug protocol of prednesone and Leukeran. We hope has has a few months of quality time before he joins Fiona at the bridge.

When I first had Fiona she had a nasty case of hook worms that took forever to clear up. Even after we got that solved she still had pudding poops. The vet suspected IBD so we put her on the prescription food for about a month. Her poops firmed up and we never had the problem again.

10 weeks is still very young. Nessa was still having accidents at that age. I would suggest either using the crate during the day for a few hours at a time so she'll learn to hold it or keeping her in a confined space with you to keep an eye on her. With Nessa it was really more a matter of us realizing she really did have to pee again even if we had just been outside. We were harder to train than she was. I fed her 3 times a day until she no longer seemed to want the mid day meal. I think it was around 4 months but can't remember now. At about 4 months I used a tug-a-jug filled with kibble. She would work on the jug when she was hungry and it kept her busy and out of trouble.

I have to recommend the crate even if the dog won't be crated as an adult it will help with the house breaking. Puppy goes in the crate, even if for an hour. As soon as puppy comes out of the crate she goes outside. After she pees she can have free time in the house. Extend the crate time gradually until puppy learns to hold it until she is taken outside. Sammie the Mutt was an adult when I adopted her and had been house broken but was at the shelter for so long she needed a refresher course . I had never crated a dog before but used the crate for a few months to retrain her. Once she was trust worthy on the house breaking issue she was never crated again. Now, Sammie likes to sleep in the puppy's crate at night with the door open.

Hmm, Nessa is English Pointer and was the first time I adopted a puppy so it was my first time with house breaking a dog that wasn't already crate trained. A six month puppy should be able to hold it for at least 6 or 7 hours. Is the puppy also being crate trained? That really helps because the pup learns to hold the pee so as not to soil the sleeping area. Also, the pup can never be out of sight, not for a second. Easier said than done if you are accustomed to adult dogs that will nap while you do something else but really important. As soon as you think the pup needs to go out; take her outside and stay out until she is empty. Nessa liked to pee 3 times on each outing. Odd I know, but I couldn't assume she was empty after the first pee. Actually I found that house training was easier than I had anticipated. Maybe I got lucky.
